Whatever you say, Maestro. It's not gospel, nor blues, nor the imprecise combination you suggest. There are all sorts of pentatonic scales, after all.

I think you err, pal. Harrison took a few lessons on sitar in India from Pandit Ravi Shankar but that's about the extent of your comparison. This is a collaborative cross-cultural exercise.

I don't believe there's much room for political ideology in music, apart from lyrics. Not that I believe, as I've said previously, you have a very firm grip on my ideologies.
Look, if what this is about is you trolling my music thread, knock yourself out -- but don't expect me to offer the courtesy of replying to such nonsense. I've had music threads trolled by real trolls, as you might imagine.

My grandfather was a renowned exponent of the electric guitar in the UK, even having an article about him published in "Variety".
My father played electric guitar in Glenn Miller style "big bands" in the 50's.

===My father played electric guitar in Glenn Miller style "big bands" in the 50's.===
Electric guitar in the big band era was not your solidbody guitar of today, but typically a big ass archtop guitar, with a mag pickup added. Before Charlie Christian (i.e., prior to WW2) they had to be played acoustically. In my childhood nobody wanted an archtop guitar because it didn't have the warm sweet tone of a flattop, but in recent years those old archtop beasts have had a renascence. See my post at the top of page 2, this thread.

I was listening to some tracks by the late Nubian oud master Hamza El-Din, and it showed up in the right hand column of suggestions. The lyrics to Hinech Yafa (You Are Beautiful) ...roughly translated:
In my bed, it's been weeks
Since I wished for my loved one
And I could not find him
I have searched all around the city streets
This full-of-lies city
And I could not find him
I was found by the guards
Who patrol the city
But my loved one, I have yet to find him
But I will not let him go
Until I bring him to my city
To my mother's home and into my room
Into my bed
You are so beautiful, my wife
And your lips are like a crimson string
Your teeth are white
Like the light of the moon
Who is this girl that's rising from the desert
From a faraway land
Carried upon a mighty bird's wing
Coming to my home
You are so beautiful, my wife
I am captivated by your eyes
Which are burning me
Like roaring flames
Who is this girl that's rising from the desert
From a faraway land
Carried upon a mighty bird's wing
Coming to my home

The Toccata in D minor, Op. 11 is a piece for solo piano, written by Sergei Prokofiev in 1912 and debuted by him late in 1916 in Petrograd. It's one of his early pieces.
It is an extremely difficult, demanding showpiece that is very popular with virtuoso pianists and has been recorded by many. However, I've not seen a performance on this level of virtuosity by any other pianist. Not only does she play it with great precision, she extracts all the delicacy and melodiousness of it at the same time. If you watch the other members of the orchestra while she plays, you can easily see how flabbergasted some of them are.
I can't say I "like" the piece although I appreciate it. For that matter, I'm not a huge fan of the composer either.
But I like to think I can be seduced by skill and genius when I see it and hear it, and she is my Genius of the Week.

Thanks for asking. I'm doing pretty well all things considered. But some say that open heart surgery somehow changes one in neurological ways.
While I don't agree, I do think it does change the way one sees one's place in the world, and the indistinct boundaries between life and death.
Don't know how else to put that, but maybe this casts some light.

It's the longest running music show EVER, now in Season 46. Still on PBS.
It's on hiatus at the moment due to COVID-19, and tapings thru at least June 15 have been canceled or postponed. If you have a jones, though, the RS Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has 40 years of shows archived and (one assumes) available for streaming, although I've not checked it out.
P.S. Oh, and Rhiannon Giddens is a bloody genius who can hang musically with absolutely anyone and handle any styles. She is so busy with projects she's already done the output of a 40 year career, yet she's probably still in her twenties.
Aw, Covid. That explains it .. Thanks
She is something else!!!
I searched for ACL and hall of fame connection - came up with following: (Answer is underlined)
"Austin City Limits" gifted the collection to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but retains the ability to access and use the footage and other items as needed. The hall will digitize the entire collection, including associated documents. "The tapes are deteriorating," said KLRU President and General Manager Bill Stotesbery. "They will put them into proper storage, and they will be less prone to fire and deterioration."
"Austin City Limits" will continue adding materials from future episodes to the archive. The two organizations are still in the process of determining how the archived material will be made available for the public to view or access.
For nearly 40 years, "Austin City Limits" has helped put Austin on the map as a music town by showcasing high-caliber performers across a variety of genres. Willie Nelson performed on the pilot, which was taped on Oct. 14, 1974, and aired during the following year's PBS pledge drive. The show has endured, holding the record as the longest-running music program in American television history.
Leonard Cohen, Arcade Fire, Ray Charles and scores of other iconic musicians have performed on the show over the years. Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples and Philadelphia rock band Dr. Dog will tape episodes of the show's 38th season in upcoming weeks. "This program mirrors our mission and the music we celebrate," Stewart said.
In 2003, the National Endowment for the Arts awarded the National Medal for the Arts to "ACL," the only television program to earn that honor, and the show won an institutional Peabody Award earlier this year.
