50 shot dead by the Orlando shooter in one small part of that city in just one night! So a city of a couple million netted more murders in 1/365th of the period. Sure, Islamic fundamentalism had something to do with it, but it wasn't the only cause. Lax gun laws where some gun toting idiot had unrestricted access to them.
One reason there are far fewer homicides in Switzerland is the owner often spends a long apprenticeship in the army learning how to use them. America doesn't teach any responsibility and practically anyone, no matter how mentally impaired, can own one.
