Title: Flavors you savor in layers
Post by: shin on June 28, 2016, 02:53:06 PM
What flavor combinations go well together, from your personal experience?

Any ideas from common ones to pregnancy cravings are up for discussion

I'm not pregnant, but do enjoy going through the motions

cheese / tomato / pepperoni

open face or closed with dense buttered then horizontally  toasted whole grain bread ... so I guess you can add margarine & dense whole grain toast to that

I am not pregnant either.

Rum, vodka and tequila or gin is a nice flavor combo.

Plain yoghurt, cucumber and dill is similar to the Ukrainian soul food I was raised on and is still a favorite treat to this day.

Simple flavour combinatons work best for me. Olive oil, balsamic vinegar and rosemary. Some fresh baked crusty Italian bread to go with it.

One dip is salsa, what is the other kiebers?

It is tomato based red sauce. They have changed the recipe a little but it has a slight sweetness to it. Almost reminded me of tomato soup. They serve it cold as opposed to the salsa being warm. What was so good with the salsa is it had cooked down during the day and was much thicker than normal. The normal salsa I have tried to get them to put on the menu as a soup. I love that stuff...LOL

Hi Fash!  :howdy:  Preferrably, ripe mango. Some people like it a little premature when it has a more sour flavor.

Title: Re: Flavors you savor in layers

Ran across these. Thought they could add some interesting flavor surprises. Finger Limes. Squeeze out little pearls of juice. They call it a microcitrus. They say it is a cross between lemon and lime. Could go well in just about anything you use lemon/lime in.  About 1.5-2 inches long and a half inch or so in diameter.

More than one person is trying to turn me on to Greek yogurt. I tell them I don't think I'd like it because I don't like much of anything about the yogurts I've trued. Then they usually say something like if I work on the savory potential of it I might like it more.

I do like tzatziki sauce, but I find it has a limited range of application for me.

The word "sole" in that context was unnecessary. I meant it as to say my "basic" appearance or my "appearance alone, on it's own"

Some people think I'm scary looking, because I'm kind of a big guy. then, add the dark skin factor, and the fact that I'm not wearing a business suit... then paranoia levels often go awry in areas where most people don't look like any of the above. I don't blame them because the news tells them what to think and I would have a difficult time trying to reprogram their thought process on sight.

No, I don't have any tattoos. I don't think they would show up well on my skin tone, and I've never wanted one in my adult life.

You look like you could handle yourself if the situation calls for it.

How tall are you shin?

A long time ago I had a Cuban dish that consisted of meatballs coated with mashed potatoes and then deep fried. It was tasty, as it would seem, but the spices which I could not identify made them extra special.
