Title: Emotional triggers
Post by: shin on August 15, 2016, 08:49:03 AM
What makes you happy?

What makes you mad?

Do they have anything in common?

Happy: laughter, music, stimulating conversation, meditation

Unhappy: the opposite of the above I suppose. Noise, anger, one-sided exchanges, stress.

Thanks for the compliment. I've started a lot of threads over the last 10 years across different forums, but it never ceases to amaze me which ones people prefer. I figured I'd try simplicity for a change.

What makes me happy? synergy, a good story, an interesting flavor, a nice long walk down unfamiliar streets, the smile on a pleased face, a catchy tune, the satisfaction that comes from a job well done

What makes me unhappy? discord that leads to violence, excessive waste, greedy people, confined spaces, pain

Just to name a few. If I think of more good ones, I'll add to the list.

Things that make me smile.... ac_biggrin

1. Spending time with family.

2. A bra that fits correctly.

3. A decent IDPA score (minimal points down)

4. Seeing my daughters succeed at growing into fine and decent young women.

5. My dogs.

6. Walking alone on the beach.

7. Swinging a well balanced fastpitch bat.

Things that irritate me.....

1. Stupidity in other people as well as myself.

2. A bra that doesn't fit properly.

3. Thong underwear

4. Trying on bathing suits.

5. This soft cast on my knee.

6. People who give unsolicited advice.

7. Political correctness.

Music. For a long time now, I don't want to hear certain songs so I only listen to classical, some smooth jazz, choral, and selected songs. Dance music makes me happy because it makes me dance. However, the news and favorite shows top my list over music. An associate listens to Pandora all day. I cannot relate.

Poverty and destitution. When I see a vagabond or a demented person speaking to themselves in a public place, this disturbs me greatly. I ask, "Where is their family?" Neglect brings me down.

Order, cleanliness, organization, progress, humming with activity. This tells me life is thriving so all is well and good.

The scent of fresh baked bread. It makes my mouth water and I dream of cheese to go with it but I know I can't have an abundance of bread and cheese to keep the middle little. Hah!

The aroma that promises a fine meal be it Asian, Italian, Greek, Middle Eastern, French, Indian, and what have you. Mouthwatering temptations inject the mind with a thrilling anticipation of fine cuisine along with fine wine to savor with great company and great conversation.
