I suggest folks don't register on the new board.  When the database is transferred, it should take all your login data along.

Grandma life is great, Shen. She's got 2 bottom teeth up and a couple more on the way.  She's teething so the red cheeks and drooling as well as fussing and sleep changes.  But not too bad.  She had a cowlick that wouldn't go down until now lol

My Mommy lives with us, so she is kinda like a second Mommy to her two grandsons.

It's good you have help, kids are a lot of work at any age lol  My son works and goes to courses while she stays home and takes care of baby. They live at her parent's house right now. They both work full time too but her Mom does a lot as well.

It is cheaper (or even free) to have your board be part of a community.  To maintain the site as is, I need to pay for a domain and the cost of the server it's hosted on.  I also have to do all updates on the software, manage security and do back ups.  Other hosting companies do all this as part of their services.



This forum is better off not in my administrative hands.  Unlike this board, I am not stable enough to manage such an endeavour.  I want to unplug and I can't do that so long as I am technically and financially responsible for this site.  As Fash has said, at the end of the month the site will be moved and I'll be able to disconnect.  I know I should have done this a long time ago but better late than never right?  I just wasn't ready to let go until now.

The database should be transferred including login information. I'm not doing the transfer so I can't guarantee it but that should be how it works.

Actually, can't you just retain the URL 'thebluecashew.com' and either have a 'redirect' to the new location OR make arrangements with the new server/provider to continue to use this .com URL?

I know you can do this with wordpress instead of having a funny extension at the end. Ie - brand.wordpress.com so you get just 'brand.com'. Its just a small fee something like $30.



Just a suggestion as it would give it greater continuity & it looks better, more professional. Just an opine tho'.

At some point in the very near future, things will be moving over to the new host and site.  



There will be a short outage while this database gets dumped and uploaded to the new site.  The switch should take under 30 minutes.  You will get a message on this board keeping you up to date on what is happening.  Once complete, this site will redirect you to the new site.



[size=150]You do not need to do anything differently to participate at the Cashew's new home. [/size]



When the time comes, just update your bookmark to the new site URL. All the same users, posts, sub-forums, rules, settings, etc, will be exactly the same.  



You will NOT need to re-register.

The truth is, for the most part, forums like this one no longer attract new, bright, intelligent and engaging posters.
