I have had my problems with drugs in the past. I can get hooked on anything in a hurry. I think I would take the pain.

Hydromorph can dull all pain. I have seen this with people I know.
The problem is, once they have to crank up the dosage past a certain point, you are really living on limited time.
I experienced this most recently with my Mother, who passed this year from cancer. My Grandmother had also given the directive to use as much hydromorph as necessary.
These are decisions that the individual and family must be clear on...
They WILL administer enough hydromorph to kill you, if that means easing the pain, provided the individual and family accepts and approves of this. I have watched this done twice.
Hydromorph killed my Mother, but that is what she wanted, and I agreed (I was the only family member that was permitted to direct care, since I'm her only child, it defaulted to me).
When dealing with something like cancer that has spread into spine and brain, there is only one clear directive. Cure the discomfort using as much hydromorph as is necessary, even if death is the final result.
It truly is a tough decision to make, but what are the other options? None.
