Let the Teardrops fall sung by Patsy Cline
If I Could Only Fall Asleep sung by Patsy Cline
You Ain't Goin' Nowhere (Bob Dylan) sung by the Byrds
Louisiana Man by Doug Kershaw
Bud the Spud by Stompin' Tom Connors
....contrary to our Kahbuzz' misconceptions, Canada has its share of rednecks, eh K?
That one of Brenda was from the original Opry House in downtown Nashville
Thanks to having a relative who was "business manager" to her and many other Nashvillers, got to visit in her home a few times
My cousin's hubby got her as a child star out of the clutches of her greedy crooked parents, took her under his wing and and became her legal guardian
and got to go fishin fer big mouth bass with Marty a few times, another of his clients and very close friends
When I get a moment .. and if y'all are real noice to me ... I'll tell about taking my 2 kids to the new Opry House and how my young daughter ended up backstage with and pampered by all the top stars on that Opry special night - New Years eve
Ending with singer / natural clown Marty doing the "midnight" spot and "greatly extended" closing with my kids moved and parked in the select balcony spot right over the stage where he could interact with them
Also learned the "secret" sound that happened at 1.20 (and at end) of that song (right above) and helped take this big personality country gent to # 1 on the pop charts as well as country
Note how seriously he takes things by how he holds his guitar ... when clowning ... which he did a LOT, even on serious songs
Distortion made a lot of musicians rich over the years...still does...LOL Just normally don't hear it on the steel.
True, but usually it is designed. This was accidental ... an old amp tube blew, but died very slowly lol
he had the smarts to signal the others to not stop - they duplicated it (with recording) for future performances
As a kid, I happened to be in Nashville at the time he did "Don't Worry bout me" when I met him for the first time
"Country Roy Clarke" gettin "serious" on "Odd Couple" - Malaguena
Roy Clarke havin fun & showin off
This ditty by Stompin' Tom was one of my favorite Country and Western tunes:
Best line in the song, "We'll save a lotta money spending money we don't got"

One of the greatest country music artists of all time, Hank passed way too soon at only 29 years old. This tune never gets old:

Country don't get much better than this Marty Robbins ballad:
I saw Nichols live a number of years ago. Great voice; great show. This tune is probably my favorite, although it wasn't a hit. Hope you like it, too:

I haven't listened to much Diamond Rio music. Nuttin' against them; just haven't got around to it. That said, this song is really good:
Amen.
Alabama. One of, if not the, greatest country bands ever. And you don't have to be a proud and unrepentant Southerner like me to enjoy this wonderful song:
Amen.

Buck Owens and the Buckaroos were a huge part of "The Bakersfield Sound" that put country music on its ear in the 60's. I love this song:
Amen.

lol, a simple catchy song with a cute name J E B Stuart.
:good:
The inimitable Patsy Cline left us all too soon, a plane crash taking her life in 1963. Written by Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard, this classic country standard was Patsy's first #1 hit:

I hear ya, Bocephus. I was the same way for years. In general, I didn't like old country although there were exceptions. All I can say is that, looking back, it feels like it snuck up on me. These days, I like old country, although there are exceptions.
Amen.

Maybe I will give some Hank or George Jones a listen. Or I will play some Skynyrd.
I have long enjoyed Marty Stuart's version of this song written by Ola Belle Reed:
This is the original performed by Ola:
And this version is somewhere between Ola and Marty;
Interesting how country music has evolved over the years. Of course, so has rock and roll.
Amen.
This Gram Parsons number was recorded during his brief stint with The Byrds. He didn't make the 27 Club, having passed at the age of 26 from a toxic combination of morphine and alcohol:
The story around Parson's death is kinda wacky: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Gram_Parsons
Amen.
You'll likely recognize this song from the movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" It was originally written around 1913 by a partially blind fiddler named Dick Burnett. He called it "Farewell Song." Anyway, years later, Ralph Stanley had a big hit with it and it's been recorded by many artists:
Amen.
Heh, heh. Country rap, anyone?
Amen.
One of the best new talents to come down the pike in some time. Morgan Wallen is a helluva songwriter, too. This is my favorite:
Amen.
Your Moe Bandy made me think o' this ol' dandy. Pretty much fits me to a T:

Yes. Merle influenced countless artists. This isn't one of his biggest hits, but it's one of my favorites. I bought the album when it came out:
Amen.
I hadn't listened to this in many a moon. It spent 5 weeks at #1 on the country charts and even spent a week in the top 25 of the pop charts in 1968. Henson Cargill wasn't as big of a name as Haggard, Owens, Thompson. et al, but he did leave a mark on the history of country music:

That's a lively song.
The Dixie Chicks were founded in 1989 in Dallas, Texas. They've done a coupla stupid things along the way that hurt their career, but there's no denying their talent. They have sold a lotta records. This isn't by any stretch their biggest hit, but it's a damn good number from 1998:
Amen.
Hank was one of the old time country greats. Born in Nova Scotia, he became a naturalized American citizen in 1958. He wrote this ballad which has been covered by many, including Elvis. It was released in 1952:
Amen.

This song is always going to remind me of Imlay city. Michigan has a lot of cute small towns. Imlay is one I lived in off and on for 14 years. I loved living there. I lived right "down town" above a resale shop and a taco place lol. Everything was walking distance. The park. My kids school. The local family owned Pizza Place. The library. The local pub.
God I miss it.
This has been me for sure.

Sara Evans is a Missouri gal with great pipes. This is one of her many hits, reaching #5 on the country charts in 2022. It has a really tasty guitar riff/hook:
