Ater another uninspiring Canuck season, I've become an Oilers fan....again!



Other than a few Russian Superstars they were lucky and fortunate to land due to a once in a lifetime event called the Fall of the Soviet Union, the Canucks have never really had any Legends in their lineup. Edmonton, in the league for a shorter periof, 4 Stanley Cups, 2 more finals.

Just another reminder why I refuse to follow the Vancouver Canucks and I'm an Edmonton Oilers fans.



I went downtown and saw all these Canucks fans on the subway.



Geez they look like hopeless puppey eyed sheep on the way to the slaughter!

1. Pavel Bure

2. Alexander Mogilny

Fash, the season began just a little over a month ago so it's too soon to know who will be in the playoffs. Right now, they are number 6 in league standings. Montreal leads at the moment but it's important to remember how a team does during the season does not determine how they'll do in the playoffs. Far from it in fact.

The team is deplorable for sure.

Their two best players are the aging Sedin Sisters.

After they're gone, there's nothing in the works to replace them.

So they'll probably get worse and worse.



Actually, the hardcore faithful are incredibly faithful here.

They put up with seasons of losing with no end in sight, and still the stands are filled to no less than 90% capacity.



If you went down to Rogers place, you'd rarely see such a well behaved bunch.

But they are incredibly naive to think their team has a chance.



I think the reason Vancouver can only get Swedes to play here is they want the mild weather and the easy West Coast Lifestyle.

They show up for their jobs and play with about as much enthusiasm as a tradesman punching the Clock.

And when the season is over, they either go golfing or fishing then punch out.



methinks the city a team plays in has to have a bit of grit or else they never win the championship.

Places like Chicago, Pittsburgh, Edmonton aint exactly the nicest places to live in, but at least they get results.

A bit of Blue Collar Grit helps. Oil Town, Murder Capital of the States, SteelTown, whatever.

Vancouver seems to sedate, urbane & politically correct and the fans and players have it too easy here.

TORONTO — Colin White and Jordan Greenway scored early power-play goals and Joseph Woll made 25 saves to help the United States beat Canada 3-1 on Saturday for the top spot in Group B in the World Junior Championships.



Jeremy Bracco also scored for the United States (4-0-0), set to play Switzerland in the quarterfinals Monday in Toronto.



"We kept our game simple and did what we had to do," Greenway said. "Our forwards, our defensemen, everyone was blocking shots when they had to. We have great chemistry playing defense as a team."



Greenway plays at Boston University, White and Woll at Boston College, and Bracco for Kitchener in the Ontario Hockey League.



"This was a tough road game to play and I'm proud of every one of these guys for the effort they gave to get the win," said coach Bob Motzko of St. Cloud State. "We've been happy with our team for a while now, but tonight we overcame adversity and played with a lot of fire. We haven't won anything yet, though. We'll enjoy this tonight, but starting tomorrow it's time to turn our attention to the playoff round."



Thomas Chabot scored on a 5-on-3 power play for Canada (3-1-0).

Yes, Shen. The Caps are on point so far. However, during the season, that standing changes unless they are far ahead of the rest. They are neck and neck with the Columbus Blue Jackets for now.

The Vancouver Canucks faced the same team and lost 5-4.

They were leading but couldn't hold it and eventually lost.

Somehow I think their trip to the wilderness is gonna last a while.

Bo Horvat ain't not replacement for the Sedins, who were never much anyways.

The Canuclks will likely be cellar dwellers for some time to come.

Why did our boys go away for vacation to the beach for an entire week of sun, fun, and shagging? Now they are soft. They went to the west coast and lost each game to the west coast teams, Sharks, Kings, Ducks. Sheesh!

16 teams make it to the playoffs. This year, 5 Canadian teams made it to the playoffs and I list them in their order in the league standings:



No. 7 - Canadiens

No. 10 - Oilers

No. 11 - Senators

No. 12 - Flames

No. 15 - Maple Leafs

It is too soon to be so sure. You just never know how things develop. A win like that for the Leafs will boost morale and give them the momentum they need. They are, after all, much younger and therefore quicker and faster even. When it gets exciting like this, we old folks say, "that would get everyone's peckers up."
