Title: Mormonism to the EXTREME!
Post by: RW on December 21, 2016, 12:21:20 AM
In addition to Scientology, I've fallen into some info on the Mormons.

It seems they take an oath to pray to God to seek revenge against the US for the abuses of its prophets:

Those mormons, I've lost count of how many  terror attacks they've committed and civilians they've killed.

I do not mind the Mormons. A pretty strange cult, but harmless to anyone who is not part of it.

I have seen a couple of their temples. Those Mormons must have money, They probably need help making good decisions about investing. ac_umm

I've trucked into Utah.

I know the Mormon.

I have dealt with the Mormon.

If I search out White places to live, Mormon towns don't count in my search.

That, and shitty low alcohol beer...  that isn't even obtained as easily as in other States.

Mormons are a lower class White, and I do not want to live amongst them.

They know money though...  They are as greedy as the Jew, or even the Scots.

I would like to join a Mormon temple or church or whatever they call them just for the networking opportunities.

Are mormons the ones who go around in pairs knocking on doors dressed in white shirts, ties and black pants and try to make you read the bible?

The opportunities are good, with networking.

On the downside, you'll have to sell your soul to the Church.

RW was comfortable with this, since she had no other option at the time.

You do not need to travel down this path!

Yeah.  Those are the missionaries.  Here's the thing about them.  Say they come to the door and you tell them you can't talk because you are cleaning the house or something.  They will actually help you clean and such.  All you have to do is listen to them talk about the church.  It's great....until they suck you in and control your entire life and take 10% of your gross income.

I'll take it the answer is yes...

An Italian Catholic got desperate in life, and settled with a Mormon.

Life is tough.

Nonetheless, RW does seem to have an easy ride through life...

I said no so why would you take it as yes?

I didn't get desperate in life.  I met my husband when I was 18 and it was love at first sight.  We've been together coming up on 19 years.

The Catholic Church leaves you alone for the most part.  I've never been hassled by them whatsoever.  My great aunt is even a nun and she hasn't even said anything about not going to church.

The Mormons were pretty relentless. I could not tell them to stop coming by because I wasn't the member and they needed to hear it from my husband.  My husband told them to bugger off (he actually told the missionaries it was a cult and they need to get out while they still can) but they didn't accept it and sent some middle aged church people over and he told them to bugger off so they sent some old church people over and he told them to bugger off.  In the end, my husband ended up calling the Bishop and telling him to bugger off.  That stopped the house calls but then they took over the Scouts so they got us into the Church through my kid.  We wouldn't let him participate in any of the prayers or religious crap and after two years, we pulled him.  It was nuts.

The other one that was bad was this Christian youth group I went to when I was a teenager.  For like 15 years after I left they were still sending calendars and newsletters to my mom's house.

The Apostolics were a bit controlling and tried really hard at getting my friend and I to be members.

Baha'i's never pressured at all but were very welcoming.

My Jewish roommate's family never tried to convert us nor did he but we'd get invited over for Passover dinners.

The Muslims we hung around with never tried to convert us either.  We attended a couple Muslim weddings and events.

Never did much with the EI religions.

The Mormon church has rid itself of it's most controversial things like not ordaining blacks as clergy and polygamy. There are still pockets of fundamentalist Mormonism though.

I actually don't live that far from Bountiful where the polygamist cult hangs out.  We see the woman around on occasion.  They dress like they're Amish and are never by themselves.  They are friendly enough though.  I've never seen any of the men.

The Mormans. I've spent some time in Utah, and around them. They exist throughout the west. Many existing the S.F. Bay Area. The Wasatch Mountians has the best snow skiing in the US. Better than Aspen, Sun Valley, Squaw Valley, etc. Lots of vertical drop, and the driest snow in the states. The Mormans used to say, no booze, drugs, smokes, no Coca Cola, but all the sex they can get.

As I understand it, Mormons are the most generous religion, giving huge amounts of money to charity as well as going out of their way to help others with their time.

OTOH I also know that the story of Joseph Smith and the golden plates is about as ridiculous as it gets.

There are a lot of them in Southern Alberta. Cardston has a temple and I think the town is still dry. Most of the Mormons down there are at least upper middle class, so they have more to donate.

Yeah that's pretty much true.

You have to wear all white temple clothes.  They provide themto you if you don't have your own.  They are VERY white.  Temple garments are the underwear and they look like this:

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Garment.jpg%22%3Ehttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Garment.jpg%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)

You get them given to you when you're older.  If you are younger, you just wear white underwear.  If you don't have your temple garments, they give them to you to wear.

My husband said they have to be the most bleached garments on the planet.

I do remember that when I visited the temple in Cardston.

They have a visitor's centre and I think you can access the libraries (with permission?)

It's been a while, but yeah there was an area you could enter outside of the temple itself.

I love driving into Salt Lake City on Hiway 80. All across Nevada, and Utah. Then you see the Wasash range, Salt Lake City at the base of the range. Beautiful on a clear winter day. A well planned out city as well.

I like the state of Utah. The contrasts between the alpine North and desert South.

I dont feel comfortable in Church.  I like being in the building itself as for its representaion but its the other people in it that gives it that uncomfortable vibe.

Me too RW.  I believe in God and have faith but I refuse to follow a religion or a book...and I dont like hanging out wirh religious groups either.

I use to attend church when I was younger and I did the enjoy the people, they are kind, warm and inviting..plus they invite you to a lot of activities, dinners and get togethers...which was really nice...BUT...the more you get to know them, the more fucked up they become....after a while being in church you are sitting there looking at these people and knowing just how fucked up they are AND all of their sins...some of them some really horrible shit...I use to live down the street from a pastor of a church I went to...I became really good friends with his daughter....she was a massive sinner....pastors daughter obviously eh??! But just sitting in church on sunday and listening to this pastor talk...he would always about his family and how "wonderful" his daughter was (of course with the cheesy piano playing in the background to match his bullshit words)...like, buddy..I hang out with your daughter and shes opposite that!!!   I couldnt handle it after that...I was done.  Biggest bunch of hypocrites ever!!

My belief is between God and I.  No one has the right to tell me how to believe or think or what to do to serve God...its wrong.

I would love to become a Rotarian. You have to be sponsored. I have one client that I know of who is a member. I don't know him well enough to ask him to sponsor me though.

Religion isthe main cause of all these wars and hatred to one another.

Religious people do not keep it to themselves.  They are everywhere.  I hate seeing them dt at waterfront train station giving away bibles n shit.

Knocking on my door and having the nerve to tell me "I am going to hell if I dont become one of them" (actual words used)...like wow, how inviting! Not.

My mom use to get these 2 women..jw's...they came to her door 3x a week..trying to "save" my mom...my mom is a sweet lady ...but she got to the point where she nicely told them she believes in God and has her own faith and to please stop coming by....but they still came....finally she got fed up one day...they came a knickity knock knockin again....she opened the door and screamed at them "fuck off" and slammed the door in their face....they never came back after that.

But geez...its people like that who are enough to make those who believe in God turn atheists....they just dont know when to stop.

That is ideology not religion. Ideology and nationalism are the primary causes of war and hatred.
