Published media reports reveal that the premier courted the International Indian Film Academy Awards, but talks fell apart when the established awards show refused to move its June awards to before the May election. An IIFA official named Premier Christy Clark and two top officials from the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation as part of these discussions.



The official said the government put in a bid that was two thirds less than the government originally promised in a draft memo of understanding, knowing it would be rejected. The government has since set up its own Bollywood awards show in April, which will cost taxpayers $11 million.
