While I may agree that something should be done, I still wonder if, in the long run, it would make a difference. Will suicide numbers drop if we go so far as to completely enclose bridges? Granted it's a Huffpo article but I ran across it while looking at this.

None, since the authorities here will not issue reports on jumpers. I'm guessing due to respect for the family.
The Second Narrows bridge has those crap bars. So, instead they can just go to the Lion's Gate (First Narrows), or the Patullo bridge. Or the Alex Fraser... Or any high building.
Happens all the time. It just doesn't get reported.
Some young Asian chick jumped off the highway overpass a half-mile from where I live not long ago... Not sure if the impact killed her, or getting run over by a semi after landing... It was never reported.
