Is this brand big in Canada?  



It's recently caught on over here, but its expensive as fuck.  



£800 for a jacket, they are nice though....

If it's a brand thing then not much you can do about it. If it's just a down filled coat then y'all are getting ripped off. You can get a better deal elsewhere. This is only one place.

But, after a week at a resort in the Caribbean, you still need a warm coat, especially in Winnipeg where iron horse jockey lives.

As kiebers wrote, you can get a warm winter coat without spending an arm and a leg. Holidays in tropical climes are important to me, brand names not at all.

As a Canadian, this brand isn't really that common here amongst any regular people that I know, and isn't generally found in any box store due to the price.



Due to the fact that they're made here, and not in China, the prices are quite high.



I can see an Arctic explorer purchasing one, or even a Canadian living in colder parts of this country, but for an average Brit to spend that kind of money on a serious Winter jacket?  Purely a "status symbol" I would presume...

They have lots of different coat styles and while some are cheaper than others they are all pretty expensive. I see people wearing them all the time. They are not in Sears, Bay, and definitely not Army Navy or Wally World. Cabelas sells them. I read they are opening flagship stores in Toronto and Manhattan.

Some brands are better quality and are cheaper in the long run though most people seem to care more about the symbolism in a brand name. Their identity requires it.

Certain high quality items aren't cheap, and one must weigh how much they need it, compared to how much they cost.



My Breathalyzer cost me close to $1,000 CDN, when all was said and done with shipping, handling and taxes.  This also included an actual SCUBA tank filled with a mixture that I can feed through the device to ensure it is calibrated correctly.



If you want an item that's up to certain standards, you will pay dearly for it.



If you can afford to purchase these items, then no problem!



If you cannot, there are cheaper alternatives available...

I just bought a rain jacket (Viking Brand) with hood.  I've owned this brand before, and find it to be quite durable.



It also satisfies visibility requirements at the sites that I work at...  Some sites don't give a shit what I have on when I step out of the cab, but most do!



I spent $120 on a rain jacket that's approved by WorkSafeBC here...  It's not lined with nothing!

I buy my winter clothes from Walmart. I have forty dollar winter boots that I'm on my second year with. I bought an 89 dollar coat three years ago that I still have. CP reimburses me seventy five per cent on my work boots each year. But, sitting in an air ride seat in a temperature controlled locomotive with a microwave, fridge, coffee pot and washroom, my boots last a long time.

But Mel could make this last at least a whole month. This is twice as long as your typical Caribbean vacation.

No, I never tried drugs. I experimented with pot, but I just hate smoking of any kind. I coughed for 5 fucking minutes non-stop afterwards.
