We all know about this case. Pretty straight forward, actually. I'm of the opinion that he did not survive (none of the money has ever entered back into circulation).
One thing that is strange to me, is how someone like Cooper could die, and nobody ever seemed to notice.
We do know he was around mid 40's in age, White, and American (or possibly Canadian, according to some).
It would be pretty difficult to just "disappear" without someone noticing. Sure, you could quit your job. Maybe even sell your house/cancel tenancy agreement with landlord...
You could make yourself jobless/homeless quite easily.
How could someone in their mid 40's just disappear without any friends or family noticing? Considering this guys face sketch was/is plastered everywhere, you'd think at least someone would say, "That's Uncle Joe!" or "That's my nephew Bill" or "That's my ex-husband Rick!" or "That's my brother Jack!"
It's almost impossible for me to comprehend how someone could disappear as he did, without even one family member or acquaintance recognizing this?
Weird, man... Weird.
maybe all he had in his life was an ex wif that never gave a fuck.
I think he died. Cash was recovered later. ( unlike in your case Ace )
ex's hey mate...they'll all cunts. :yahoo:
He most likely died. Parachuting out of a plane in the middle of Winter (in a fairly cold, mountainous region, with cold lakes around) in the darkness, in a storm, dressed in nothing but a business suit makes the likelihood of survival slim, even if he was still alive after touchdown...
But nobody can have "just an ex wife that doesn't care," Gordy... No parents? No siblings? No Aunts? No Uncles? No cousins?
It's like nobody knew this guy, even with his sketch plastered everywhere!
Go to bed.
That was forty six years ago..
Has there been a new development in this very cold case?

Nothing really at all.
His tie (pretty much the only thing that he left behind) was examined recently, and tests discovered relatively rare metals that show he may have worked for Boeing (in Seattle).
Some evidence recently released by the FBI include the possibility that he may have been a Canadian, but nonetheless he was still very familiar with Seattle and area, and aircrafts in general...
Why did you mention it if there are no new developments?

Because I felt like it.
Not so much to discuss the event (since that can be easily found), but as I explained in my OP, how the hell could this guy get through life without nobody knowing him?

I just wondered what made you think of someone who committed his crime before you were born.
That doesn't really matter, Fash.

Unless there's a new development, it doesn't matter anymore.
It does matter. To me.
Not so much the case itself, but how someone can disappear that easily...

Try about the middle of the century or a bit later. By the end of this century, Britain, Canada, US, Australia and New Zealand will all have a non white majority. Does that make you happy Mel?
It doesn't really bother me, Shen, because for one... Canada is pretty White, and just like Asians, we often tend to stick to our own groups when we procreate also.
The fact that you spread 'em for a Negro, Shen, is an anomaly, and more than likely shunned even amongst your own people.
That being said, we'll all be long dead before we can even begin to imagine what the racial makeup will be here in 1000 years.
Shit, we can't even be certain how the World itself will operate in a 1,000 years!

It won't be one thousand years. It won't even be one hundred. You may see a non majority nation in your lifetime.

Things just don't work that way. You should be good with numbers, no?
A country that's like 85% White, simply just cannot change that in a couple of generations, unless we let in 100,000,000 coloured's overnight...
And the fact that most races procreate with their own...

We are bnow 75% white which is down 10% in one decade. Caucasians have very low birth rates, immigration is overwhelmingly minority. Aboriginals are the fastest growing ethnic group. Whites should be around fifty per cent of the population by the middle of the century and decline rapidly from there.
There will still be little towns that are ninety per cent white and old, but the majority of Canadians will be minorities.
We can hypothesize, but not one of us here can know what will be in the future.
To assume that Whites will be a minority in 33 years? Give your fucking head a shake!

It's not a hypothesis. If current demographic trends continue whites will no longer be a majority in thirty five years. The truth is these trends are likely conservative. Most people of child bearing age will be minority and whites will be old with few births or immigration to replace them.
White people still have kids too... You know that, right? And it's more than likely they'll procreate with other Whites also.
Either way, doesn't much matter to me. I DON'T have kids, so won't care what happens after I die.

You know the white birth rate is not even close to replacement levels of 2.1 right?
Canada is not alone though. Whites will be a minority in several countries.

Yes. Mel thought about it
Anyhow, it was / is an interesting case
BTW - I posted a story recently (writer unknown) and posted "D B Cooper as author" ... and no one got it, or at least no one commented on that
...and another theory I can come up with is that he survived so he is alive and well and that is why no one is looking for him...
I am fascinated with the legend of DB Cooper.

It's an interesting case. Not so much due to the fact that he had extreme balls of steel for doing what he did, but moreso that he was never identified... To me, that's the interesting part.
A person cannot just simply go through life, without interacting with people.
For instance, I had to draw up a will once my Mother died, to prevent the Canadian Government from putting my assets into General Revenue in the case of my death. This is actually quite a rare thing for most people to have to do, since most people have family that's related close enough for the Estate to default to them. I do not...
I could sell the car, the bike, the business, and the condo... And go "homeless." Which is what I'd have to do to disappear.
Now, even if I did all this... And recreated what Dan Cooper did... With my sketch plastered all over the news, eventually some people that knew me would put 2 & 2 together, and say, "Hey! That looks like Steve!"
The guy was in his mid-40's. There's no way he could've made it through life without associating with some people at least...
And yet, not one person knew who he was... He could drop off the face of the Earth, and nobody noticed that "Uncle Dan" or "Nephew Dan" was never seen from again...

I mean the disappearing off the face of the earth part. If they made it to shore they had to have had help. If Cooper survived he had to have had help.
I'm going to assume (and I believe it to be true), that all the Alcatraz inmate escapee's died. I also believe Cooper died.
The difference is, and the REALLY puzzling thing is, is how Cooper could never be identified.
And that did really piss the FBI off... They don't give a shit about inmates eaten by sharks!
Cooper pissed them off, since he did something that nobody else could manage in a skyjacking... Nobody can figure out who he is.

It can't happen again, so the feds don't give a shit who he is.
They just finally closed the file, after 45 years...
And yes, they had an agent handling that file up until now.
So ya, the FBI did care, and had a paid employee to handle it.
