The topic I was trying to post is what our great BC hero Jimmy Pattison is doing up here. CANFISCO Jimmy bought the plant
at Rupert. Laid off two canning lines, undercut us here and put thirty people out of work. Thirty jobs in a village of eight hundred
people hits very hard. CANFISCO in Rupert isn't a cannery any more, it's a packing plant, freeze it and ship it.
Somehow CANFISCO worked a deal under our last prime minister to ship our fish to Alaska, Ketchikan to be canned and shipped back to us. The boats don't even touch Canadian shore

JB bought an airplane a Piper Navaho, good hard work machine to fly live crab from here to the city and he researched and had buyers, market. The boys at CANFISCO heard about it and put the crush on. They told every skipper if you sell to JB you will never again sell to me.
I was watching a an episode of Country Canada about fish plants in Newfoundland being forced to hire temporary workers from Thailand because they couldn't find anyone local who was interested in that kind of repetitive, assembly line work.

Atlantic seafood processors were lobbying government to allow them to hire more foreign workers. Dennis King, executive director of the P.E.I. Seafood Processors Association, said a deal was reached at the end of last month after the Maritime Seafood Coalition met with officials in Ottawa.
