Title: The neverending conversation thread
Post by: shin on February 06, 2017, 06:30:29 AM
This is a thread for random thoughts and conversations that don't necessarily fit in other threads.

How cold would it have to get where you live before you think you've had enough and seriously consider moving to a warmer climate?

I figure if it gets that cold here, it's a new ice age and moving will not help.

Growing up, it would get down to -35C (-31F) and we didn't think much of it.  Now, we get down to only about -20C (-4F).  It's physically hard on my body but I don't hate the cold.  The snow on the other hand is such a pain in the ass.  We got 2ft over night with more on the way.  I hate driving in that crap.

Armhole BC or up some other rig road to a rig 150 miles off the highway. Three in the morning waiting for the monkeys on the deck

to finish what they have to do. Cold is cold, cold with machines and steel is very different. Somewhere in the Montney probably in the Fontass.

Can't imagine that kind of cold. No experience. What's the best way to heat a residence, keep water flowing, ice, driving?

The houses are built to handle the cold. We do seldom get below fifteen in Barrie, Ontario, but I walk around my condo in a tee shirt and shorts.

Excellent Tequila. I prefer the gold. It's $68. Here in Tamarndo. Probably $40. in the U.S.? I love different citrus type margaritas. We do get some weird citrus fruits, beyond normal limes, lemons. 4 different types grapefruit. Ranging from sweet to sour. For me on the rocks, no salt.

Silver is around $42 and gold about $10 more. Have not wanted to spend the cash for PATRON GRAN BURDEOS Around $450 for a fifth. Silver and gold are just fine...LOL

I don't believe the POTUS is the most powerful person in the world anymore, though they tote that phrase and "the leader of the free world" a lot. It's just hyperbole. Any person with more money and connections than a country's President has more power.

He, in my opinion is the leader of nothing. He respects nothing. Not too smart either. On the other hand, looks like he now has the nuke codes, which should be of concern to any living creature. This makes him powerful in my mind, and dangerous.

Regarding the Mexican Cartels? I'm not sure any more. Seems like weed is avalible practically anywhere within the US, and legal in many states. Other drugs enter the country thru Mexico, and both coasts. Perhaps Mexico and its growing middle class will trump the cartels. Clearly the US has an appetite for drugs. Hence my reasoning to legalize all drugs. Nice chatting with you. Good thread.

Believable... What kind of deal does it take to drill and take oil from this country? What protections are offered to the workers? Is the oil worth it? Asking because I don't know.

I was looking at the tequilas this morning. Patron partnered with Lalique crystal to put out a limited edition...Between $7000 and $8000 for a fifth. Blew my mind. The prices I saw on Lalique crystal told me that was where the money was. Just damn...LOL

I think most of the money is in the Lalique crystal. I would imagine a decanter from them would be in excess of $5000.00. There are pieces on their website that go as high as $36,000.00. A fifth is 750ml

Definitely the cartels. In the states, the billionaires who finance electoral campaigns have more power than the candidates that owe their victories to them.

Yes, but I think most Presidents do even if they don't need it.

I believe he got special help. Wink, wink. How important is it for him to send 2 TWEETS regarding his daughter Ivanka and Nordstroms? The second TWEET  during a security meeting. Appropriate for the most power person in the Mundo? I mean bafoon.

I don't believe the POTUS is the most powerful person in the world anymore, though they tote that phrase and "the leader of the free world" a lot. It's just hyperbole. Any person with more money and connections than a country's President has more power.

Money talks. I wish there was another way to elect those running for office. Norway seems to have a good system. The Donald Trumps of the world wouldn't have a chance. Thank you Mr. Putin.

No argument. Just saying there is a better way to elect people. In Norway candidates for public office cannot advertise either on the radio or on TV. Campaigning is limited to printed materials. A much better way. Hope this concept hasn't changed. Regarding Putin and the Russians. They helped the bafoon a lot. I think they call it something. Ask The French. Happening there too.

The Russians did not alter a single vote that had been cast electronically. Not one. They exposed the corruption of a criminal candidate like Clinton and the collusion of the Dem party. The Dems need to look in the mirror instead of blaming others for their own malfeasance.

Anyway, the US has overturned elections in other countries, so all of this Russian hacking noise is laughable.

Know that I am no fan of Hill. Time will tell about the Russians and hacking. Trump lost by 2 million votes, but he won. Time will tell. His tax return, where is it? You seem to be smart? Wouldn't this be an easy thing to get out of the way? Put more and more speculation to rest?

Oh ya, Trump lost the popular vote by close to three million votes. But the US presidential election is not a popular vote. If it were, no candidate would even bother to campaign in places like Nebraska, Wisconsin and so on. California and the North East would be the only places that matter.

This coming from a retard who thinks Moscow changed the election results even after it was proven they didn't.  ac_toofunny Hillary Clinton accepted "donations" from hostile governments while Secretary of State and then approved weapons sales to them.

The state-owned Central Bank of China has loaned the Trump organization hundreds of millions of dollars. Is Trump working for China now too retard?

I will explain the legalities of the executive to you. Trump is right.  Both the Vice President and President are exempt from federal rules that prohibit executive branch employees from participating in matters in which they have financial interests. It does not apply to the Secretary of State though.

Your IQ is too low to vote. Stay away from the ballot box.

Yeah It's a conflict of interest. If the Chinese banks were smart, they'd collect. So in your mind he's the King. So it's alright to dupe the entire country? Wrong, nothing in the law about about owing money while in the private sector.

http://lawnewz.com/high-profile/trump-is-right-conflict-of-interest-rules-dont-apply-to-him/

In fact, 18 U.S.C. Section 202 specifically states, as relating to Section 208 which deals with financial interests:

"Except as otherwise provided in such sections, the terms 'officer' and 'employee' in sections 203, 205, 207 through 209, and 218 of this title shall not include the President, the Vice President, a Member of Congress, or a Federal judge."

This is all irrelevant anyway since he resigned from all his companies.

Trump Organization documents say he has resigned from more than 400 businesses

TD, you just wrote "The Canadian PM LOOKS way more at ease.

Trudeau is the dumbest, most unqualified leader we have ever had. He is a rich, spoiled, part time drama teacher who inherited a seven billion dollar surplus and turned it into a thirty one billion dollar deficit in a year while not in a recession. He is bringing in a national carbon tax that will not move the climate needle one iota, but will put our goods and services at a competitive disadvantage with our largest trading partner. He has floated ideas like taxing extended medical benefits and raising the goods and  services tax.

Trudeau once said budgets balance themselves. Does that sound very articulate to you?

And speaking of conflicts of interest that sleaze Trudeau took a Christmas trip to a private island owned by a billionaire who's companies receive federal tax dollars.

We'll see in three years which leader has a better job creation record and who will put keep more money in the pockets of taxpayers. Trump doesn't have to do very much to top Trudeau poor record.

Yes, just like I said. While in the private sector. What about the King part? What about his Fed. tax return? I'm saying he has not cut his ties with the Russians, and Russian banks, or severed ties to those businesses. I believe his Tax return will clearly show this. Why is this a problem with you? Why do you assume it has to do with looks?  He is 50x more articulate than Trump. I said it before, no one is in love 100% with the leadership of their country. Quick question. Are you an emigrant to Canada?

Think what ever you wish. His physical appearance, body language looks relaxed, and confident, as opposed to the Bafoon, or I mean the King.

There is nothing in the law that says he has to release his tax returns. That is a custom that started at elections.

He has resigned his positions in his companies, but has not sold them. This is not a violation of the  "Emoluments Clause," going all the way back to George Washington. You're only chance your uninformed witch hunt may work is if you could prove  the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act which explicitly prohibits the President from accepting gifts from foreign governments or international organizations except as permitted under the law. If the Secretary of State was listed in this, Hillary Clinton was guilty of violating this law.

Quote from: "Twenty Dollars"The Canadian PM looks way more at ease, and positive, standing next to Trump. Smarter too. Trumps vocabulary, and his redundancy is sickening. No ones leader is perfect. You all should be thankful he is your leader. Wonder how many languages Trump speaks?  Can't help but think watching this, Trump is thinking about his next lame tweet. Just friendly conversation.

Think Trump had outside help getting elected?

Yes, but I think most Presidents do even if they don't need it.

I believe he got special help. Wink, wink. How important is it for him to send 2 TWEETS regarding his daughter Ivanka and Nordstroms? The second TWEET  during a security meeting. Appropriate for the most power person in the Mundo? I mean bafoon.

I don't believe the POTUS is the most powerful person in the world anymore, though they tote that phrase and "the leader of the free world" a lot. It's just hyperbole. Any person with more money and connections than a country's President has more power.

Who do you think has more power in Mexico, the leaders of the cartels or the head of the government? That's just onme example...

Definitely the cartels. In the states, the billionaires who finance electoral campaigns have more power than the candidates that owe their victories to them.

She gets it.

I think Trump may be one of the wealthier modern Presidents to date based on his business ventures and reluctance to reveal his tax records. I have to wonder what powerful allies he has behind the scenes...

I wonder if he is a lot less wealthy than he claimed during the election..

The Clintons are a lit wealthier than many people realize..

Not that any of that matters now though.

I think he has a lot more potential wealth than actual wealth.

If he could liquidate his assets from myriad investments, it would probably surpass his bank account.

Learn to read Twenty Dollars..

Seoul is not sticking up for anyone you fool, he's explaining the law and rules as it pertains to the president to you, but it's like explaining something to a piece of furniture

He told you which laws would have to be broken in order for Trump to be in violation..

Did you read them? of course not?

Instead, you ignored his posts and rambled on with the same thing you posted yesterday and the added bit about the resignation of a careless national security advisor..

Seoul is a knowledgeable guy on the issues, and not particularly partisan either..

You could learn from him if you would first learn to read.

TD made some pretty irrational accusations. None of which had anything to do with the point of his repeated post, that his business background puts him in a conflict position legally. And I as I proved, that is not the case, at least so far.

You are right IHJ, I had little use for Trump or Clinton. I posted in Politics, that if I was an American, I would have voted for Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson(who is far from perfect too), even though I am not a libertarian.

I like predictability and I just don't know what to expect from this administration. Don't get me wrong, I pay little attention to the daily National Enquirer type gossip from the media. But, I am not getting a feel yet what direction the executive will take on the economy besides freezing hiring, which is a good thing. I guess we'll know more when he starts working with congress on the budget.

I will give it a year before I decide if this presidency is good for growth or not.

It does seem very unusual. We're known to have the worst of winters among the states in the Midwest, but somehow the quad cities area has been relatively dry and temperate.

Tomorrow, it's supposed to reach the 70s. Today, we should see high 60s.

Yeah 200+K evacuated plus the erosion on the spillway is  not good esp when it is heading towards earthen dam which could undermine it and then that is not good at all it is SHTF for down stream residents.

Yeah 200+K evacuated plus the erosion on the spillway is  not good esp when it is heading towards earthen dam which could undermine it and then that is not good at all it is SHTF for down stream residents.

Great informative Video showing the true extent of the damage :(

Two hundred thousand evacuated now?? Holy fuck!!

Not this year. There hasn't really been snow on the ground for more than a few consecutive days this winter.

Most of the USA has had a snowy winter.

It does seem very unusual. We're known to have the worst of winters among the states in the Midwest, but somehow the quad cities area has been relatively dry and temperate.

Tomorrow, it's supposed to reach the 70s. Today, we should see high 60s.

I thought Chicago was having a harsh winter.

Not this year. Where did you hear that?

but the truckers are usually hopped up on pills. its normally the bikers that are drunk. the problem is that 75% of our customers are breaking some law so when somebody gets belligerent, we can't really call the cops. if cops started coming around, we'd lose alot of our regs.... so its up to someone to difuse it before it becomes a real situation....

we're more what you would call 'beach adjacent'.... close enough to get there in a hour or so.... but far enough away that the prices are lower.... so its a good location. lodging and restaurants are the biggest draw. plus theres lots of little tourist traps. train museums, medical museums, antique shops, shit like that....

You make them from scratch? That sounds great!

I like a good crust to filling ratio, so I prefer the individual sized ones.

This is a storebought one I had not too long ago. It's about 5" in diameter.

I've heard so many horror stories about the potency of brownies, that I would think you'd have to plan the rest of your day around eating one.

Do you like either ranch dressing or mayo? I find it strange that you're indifferent about them interchangeably on a burger.

I think ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise are commonly added to fast food burgers here, but I tell them not to put them on when I go to a place that serves them that way.

Definitely, but I try to limit how much red meat I consume these days.

Did you know the proper serving size of a portion of meat is only as big as a deck of cards?

I did hear or read that shin.

The deck of cards thing makes sense. I've heard nutritionists say that a serving of meat should be "no bigger than the palm of your hand"...... ac_umm

I've heard the palm thing too, even from the same health care workers. I think it would be a closer approximation that a static 3 ounces.

I really can't remember the las t time I only had 3 ounces of meat in one sitting outside of a deli sandwich.

Ahhh I see whats going on now, your vision of "party" is an actual party lol. Those are rare for the Blaze these days too, but a few times a year dont hurt. I dont normally have them at my house, I go to other's peoples places. I use to have them at my place, before my son, and the rare event of a babysitter combined with a special occasion. I know I may of gave you a first impression of a drunken Irishman upon introduction lol, but I blame the weekend I chose for that lol. I usually have a couple shots here and there through the week, but Saturday is the night I might put down several. Of course my son is 18 now, practically gone all the time anyway lol. Since you told me your age, I'll say I'll be 41 in October. Though Im always told I look between 25-29  ac_smile

I actually have a BIPAP. They work well, but I either sleep too short an interval, or too long. I think I get an ideal amount of rest, though.

You're an early riser shin.

I find the early AM hours to be more peaceful and serene.

I suppose it would be for single people without dependents.

How is the weight loss going Shin, you made much progress? I know you've been at it for a while now.......  well done for keeping at it for so long, that's probably the hardest part!

That day I was doing a lot of errands all over the place. I don't have a car, so that made walking everywhere a more viable decision.

I sure have. I weigh 221 pounds. I kept the weight off over the winter drilling season when I'm in my wellsite trailer and not very active. The season is over now and in three weeks the work will begin on the farm. With the physical labour on the farm and my reduced calorie count, I will be frickin skinny by the middle of the summer. ac_wot
