I am. I only do the oilfield consulting thing winters now, but the winter feels long. About seven more weeks and I am back on my farm until next December. After thirty one years, I am sick of it. I want to farm, not follow a coiled tubing unit around which is what I am doing right now. It's less money than making hole, but I am working closer to home.
Anyone else feeling burnt out from work and needing a change? What is it about your job that gets to you the most?
I enjoy going to work everyday and I am thankful for my job..
There is a lot of politics where I work, but I like the ladies I work with..
My husband was feeling a bi unhappy at his company when they were sending him all over the world..
Now that he's home every night he's happier....I am too.

I would prefer coming home to you at night than the guys in a camp too. What I do is a young man's game. At least I only do this crap less than four months a year now.
Maybe you might want to try a different job. May take a pay cut, but if it makes your day to day life better, its worth it. Id rather be happy than have lots of money.

Yes, we will have to make an appointment to see out accountant.
I am getting worn down by my job. The rules are getting more cumbersome all the time. Seven years until retirement and warm weather. I can hardly wait.
When I leave the pool in the mornings and the lifeguard hands me back my membership card, I say, "Now I get ready for my easier job." Hehe.

I would do that too if it did not mean getting up early.
I haven't worked in ten months, so no I'm not feeling bummed out by my career.

That is what I am doing this winter. I could be fifteen hours from home making more money punching wells in, but I make less money doing workovers closer to home. Still, I am not at home. But I will be the end of next month until the following December.

I go back to work when you finish for the season. I'm looking forward to getting off my fat ass and contributing again.
I'm really tired of my job, of working for others. Seriously considering starting my own business. Hard work and skill doesn't get one anything in the Aussie workforce anymore. All the regulations and union mindsets means the bell curve is set even lower. I'm ready to take a pay cut if it means I'm not dealing with this socialist crap anymore.

Although it's not so easy these days here. What I'd like to do was possible 10-15 years ago but now that the Australian government got involved, I as a post graduate must go through mandatory pre graduate qualification courses to do the simplest of things I've already done.
I have to compete with early twenty somethings who don't have one iota of how the landscape works but they paid for this course or that. Businesses actually ask for a bachelor's degree or better PLUS these stupid courses.
Part of me wants to slide through these new stupid qualifications and the other part wants to run while pulling out my hair.
Government needs to get the fcuk out of business. They fcuk up EVERYTHING they touch.

Sure about that scrambled egg brains? I do lots of things. Ride waves, ride my bike, people watch on the beach, work out in my garden, entertain my lady friends, etc. Brings me to cocktail time every day. What day is it anyway. What's your day like pippi? Let me guess? Insufficient funds?

Many of my clients are self employed. Some of them wish they were employees again. Owning and operating a business has most of the same headaches that being an employee does plus new ones.

Looks like I'm really getting to you scrambled egg brain? As you know pippi, I don't work. A typical day would be.
6:30 - 7:00 breakfast. Fresh ground coffee, fresh fruit, wheat toast.
8:30 - 10:00 bike ride, check waves down town, the reef, and Langosta.
10:30 - ? Could be wave riding, people watching, socializing.
? - ? Sunset watering the yard, cocktail time. Check my accounts.
? -? Let's think about dinner? A lady friend? Here, or let's go out.
Day in day out. It's perfect. Ask a Canadian.

As far as pay and benefits go for blue collar workers, it's the gold standard.
It is a stressful place to work though. Transport Canada has been responsible for a lot of that stress over the past twenty years with never ending new rules. American veterans who took over the company four years ago can take credit for the rest of the slumping morale at CP.

You guys haul some really dangerous stuff right through major cities. The public believes hiring another federal employee to oversee another redundant rule that you will no doubt find a way around makes everyone safer.
Been there done that I did learn a valuble lesson that making large amounts of income/money and expensive toys does not make one happy though it was in fact working outisde and going to diffrent sites and working with intresting eople that made it fun.
Now i am kinda in limbo since where I wnat to go back and live in small town much like Houston B.C. whjere I was born and riased but the problem is fiding jobs in those regions yet the upside is housing prices are not crazy.
Would love to have nice old school but modren cabin/home with some acerage in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Region.
TBH the Okanagan valley is great but seems many people have the same Idea to move there or own a place there thus it is growing like crazy and Summerland and Peachland are losing that small town feel it seems.
