Austerity is happening in Europe. They've made huge cuts and layoffs. So why isn't government spending down more? Because when people are laid off and unemployed, they need unemployment benefits and welfare.
Austerity has been not only a failure but a disaster. Countries that have enforced austerity measures are doing worse than ever. Countries that have told austerity to take a hike have been doing well.
Like I said, the cuts have been replaced by spending on unemployment benefits, welfare and other social programs.
Austerity is bad enough as it is. Millions have lost their jobs. They should become homeless and have to starve too?
