Title: Clueless in Seattle - PC run amok / to the extreme
Post by: cc on May 22, 2017, 05:12:58 PM
When Seattle police officers write use of force reports they no longer call a suspect a suspect.

"Community member" is the new term. Several officers say the term is offensive, explaining their work with violent suspects.

Last fall The Dept of Corrections stopped calling inmates offenders - instead use the term "student"

Does that mean everyone in the community is suspicious?

Is an inmate by any other name less guilty?

I thought the reign of PC tyranny had ended in the US.

I guess Seattle did not get the memo.

What do you expect from a sanctuary city run by a pack of clueless prog tools?

Something resembling reality or common sense? Good luck with that?... :nea:

This is a place where the cost of living is rising faster than the the property values because burger flippers and people who serve coffee for a living; both of which who aren't even qualified to be picking fuzz balls off of old sweaters, get paid a minimum $15 an hour.  :oeudC:

I never understood the rationale for raising minimum wage for jobs that are disappearing. I think every Mickey D's has one of these  in them now.

Some city councils in Canada are calling themselves sanctuary cities.

You are incorrect.

Seattle is a "Vancouver Lite," for exactly the same reason.  It isn't because of the wages.  It is due to Seattle being a fairly attractive city to move to for certain demographics.  Asians especially come to mind.

And where Asians go, money flows.

No different than San Francisco.  Cost of living was sky high for years...  even decades, before council upped wages over the Federal minimum there also.

Seattle has a white majority.

Yes property values play a part but they only affect the cost of living in so far as the market will bare. You can't charge more for a house or property than it is worth relative to it's market. It's market price is tied directly to it's location.

The same is not true with wages. If you think that rising wages for goods and services, that are mandated by the government, do not affect the cost of living, then you are a fool. Ridiculously high wages are passed directly on to the consumer all across the board.

Ask yourself why a small cup of coffee in some neighborhoods in Seattle costs $6 and then look at the nose ring wearing, horn rimmed, ear gauged, dipshit, psychology major, behind counter, pretending to be a fucking nuclear chemist when all they are really doing is asking you how much non fat milk you want in your fucking latte.....It's all a sham orchestrated by prog economic policies that cater to societies lowest common denominator which just so happens to be the prog/liberal voter base.

I just want to point out that increases in wage, specifically minimum wage, tends to follow inflation.

An excessively high minimum wage will obviously place inflationary pressure on the economy. But increasing it to keep pace with inflation will have only a minimal effect.

Minimum wage increases almost always follow inflation.  Like minimum wage is increased to keep up with inflation, not the other way around.

It doesn't matter if minimum wage is seven bucks an hour or seventeen bucks it is still not enough to pay a mortgage on.

It's really insulting that these same progressives who don't want mortgage paying jobs in mines, building pipelines, chemical plants are the saviours of crappy jobs for kids.

Well it's a good thing that most minimum wage earners don't have mortgages, eh?

Maybe they don't mind high school kids serving poison that nobody needs while wearing paper hats.

That is true. Raising the minimum wage to an excessively high rate would exert inflationary pressure on the economy, but increasing it to keep pace with inflation would only have a minimal effect.
