That is not the case in English speaking Canada anyway. The Canadian chapters have repeated they do not share the racist views of their Finnish founders. Canadian Soldiers of Odin are active in community volunteerism, organizing events such as food drives.

The national leader and most members strongly denounce racial hatred. They don't sugar coat Islam which draws the ire of far left deniers who provoke violence whenever they see two members together wearing their colours.



I am interested in joining the Winnipeg chapter. It's a good organization that supports freedom of expression and protecting people from violence. They are kind of like the Guardian Angels that Curtis Sliwa founded.

I see the GAs every so often on the subway or on the street when I'm in NYC. There presence isn't nearly as huge in Manhattan as it used to be, like when I was a kid.  Manhattan has changed drastically for the better since the 1980s. Most times you see them in the outlying boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx where crime rates are still high. They make people feel more comfortable when they are around. The NYC police dept still doesn't exactly endorse them but most of the rank and file officers accept them and work with them.
