Title: I have been nicotine free for two weeks
Post by: Anonymous on August 09, 2017, 09:40:08 PM
This is the longest I have gone without  a cigarette since I began smoking twenty seven years ago. Wish me luck. I want to be an ex-smoker.

You just need something like 20 days to truly kick a habit so you're well on your way.

You've got this!

Is that an average RW?

With some habits requiring more time and some less?

I'm not sure.  I was just told to kick a habit or create a new one takes like 20 days.  I know with smoking, I still have cravings and I haven't smoked in years and years.  I also have nightmares where I wake up from dreams where I was smoking and it's horrifying!

Kicking bad habits is all about will power and I have no doubt seoulbro will be successful.

It gets easier SB.  Then the day will come when you smell cigarette smoke on people and want to gag.  That's a great day :)

Good man. Besides alcohol, I also used to have a pack to pack and a half a day habit.

I concentrated on one addiction at a time. Alcohol was the bigger problem, so once I had that under control, I faced my cigarette habit head on. I used Nicorette gum as aid.

Thats awesome man! In my opinion, the first 2 weeks is the roughest, and you made it through that. If you can make it through the next 2 months, you should be golden! Sailing the high seas and free at last! lolol

Instead of wishing you luck, I will simply leave you with a Bruce Lee quote  ac_smile

I have to admit I did, from the time I was 18-23, maybe 24. I've only had 3 since then, and they were needed at the time.

I used to smoke too.

But that was 30 years ago.

Quit cold Turkey.

Started smoking in my teens, quit after a year.

Then took up the habit again 10 years later workin' in the Bush, then quit again.

I wanted to put up the appearance that I was tough among all these lumberjacks, was one of them, but when I finished the contract, was no longer workin' with 'em, I dropped the facade and stopped smoking.

I guess some of us are just stronger, have more will to walk away from a bad habit and quit at will.

Seems to be a lot of smokers and alcoholics/ex-alcoholics here on this forum too.

Anyways, good luck.

I like smoking.  I quit once some time back, but decided that smoke-free wasn't for me.

Seoul, I have used Champix/Chantix (same thing, one sold in US, one in Canada), and it does seem to work!  Plus, you'll love the dreams that shit will give you!

Anyhow, congratulations on quitting...  It's a filthy, expensive habit, but I come from a family of smokers (Germans seem to like to smoke) that have all smoked right up until they died, so I'll probably just carry on the tradition.

Hey, my dad is seventy seven and still takes the occasional cigarette. I have wanted to quit for a number of years, but I never really thought I could do it. Now, I am really determined to quit for good.

The problem with me, is that I like my beer...  And NOTHING goes better with beer than cigarettes.

Plus, I am a little high strung, and people like that tend to be smokers, as it has a slight calming effect.

That, and dealing with with drivers here all day long causes me much stress at times, so I like to smoke at work also.  Asian drivers cause me to smoke more than I normally would at work!

The first month of quitting smoking is the hardest by far. It helps a lot if you really want to quit because you don't enjoy it anymore.

Yes, wherever it comes from, I developed that concept a long time ago on my own .. from lifesaving pragmatism I guess. Without that downgraded expectation / concept which has kept me going for a long time, I doubt I'd be here .... at least as a functioning person

...ya gotta know what ta quit, Blazor.

I used to smoke 'for fun' - fer kicks.

But when the novelty wore off, I just decided that enough was enough.

It wasn't fun anymore. Actually, I got bored with the habit.

And it didn't feel 'cool' anymore.

Smokin' is somethin' ya do when yer young, teens or early 20s.

Leave the risky behaviors/stuff for the early years, but then butt out for later.

Been there, done that...you know the rest.

Yes. It's still a pot high just a little different. Eating it takes longer to feel it and it lasts longer. Smoking and vaping are very similar high just vaping is cleaner and you don't cough near as much.

And if I understand you correctly kiebers, how one takes marijuana in also contributes to the affect?

I see kiebers....well actually I don't..

I don't understand why anyone would want to get high..

Taking it for pain relief is a different matter.

Absolutely.

I do not smoke pot, as it makes me highly self-judgemental.

It's weird, how other people that I know can smoke it, and feel relaxed, yet for me it does the opposite...

It causes me to worry, and over-think things more than I already do, so I generally pass on the blunts, when they are passed around.

Different strains will give you different highs.  With the medicinal stuff you can kind of customize the effect.  It takes a bit of trial and error.

It's not like getting bags of god knows what.

As the celebration went on, Hamill 'became increasingly intoxicated' and 'inserted a cigarette inside the blow up doll's vagina and a party horn into the anus,' the complaint says.

A special favorite was a female sales rep named Wendy, whose last name is being withheld.

'Wendy - get your t*ts in here!' Mancino and Hamill would allegedly yell at the nubile subordinate to summon her to their office.

In the office, the suit claims the two managers could be heard 'motorboating' Wendy's breasts.

A footnote to the complaint explains that motorboating 'is the colloquial term for placing one's face in the area between a woman's breasts and blowing onto her skin while rapidly shaking one's head, thereby creating a sound similar to that of an outboard boat motor.'

Does it make you higher than smoking marijuana?

I would reply but Kiebers nailed the answers pretty good lol. In my opinion no it didnt, but it was a different kind of feeling. More relaxed and lasted longer.

This might be my last week til I get another job, food and bills are more important lol.

The Iron Chink doesn't smoke pot or eat pot edibles. That should tell anyone that mary jane has no value.

Something tells me The Iron Chink has not. My gf said she was the same, refused pot, totally against it, until someone finally turned her onto it, then she liked it. Hell I was the same way to a degree, I wasnt against, it, I just didnt want to, and then I wound up doing it, and liked it as well. The anti crowd is normally trained growing up that its an evil thing, like I was. I also remember them saying fluoride was a good thing, when its a poison! And Dr.s back long ago said cigs were good for you!

I smoked from age ten to thirty five. If you someone is off smokes for two months permanent non smoker status is easy imo.
