We're in the middle of a nasty flu outbreak down here.
Diagnosed flu cases are up by more than 150% on last year, with many deaths, particularly amongst the elderly. 6 people died in a single nursing home in Tasmania, with a further 8 now dead in the past week in another nursing home in Victoria, and a lot of patients are ill.
Maybe it'll mutate enough by the time it hits North America in your winter that it won't be such an issue.
You might want to make sure you get your flu shots this year.

I havent had a flu shot in over 23 years. I only get a cold once or twice a year if that. I prefer to build up resistance naturally.
I can't get a flu shot because I am immunocompromised so I'm going to have to invest in a boat load of hand sanitizer by the sounds of it.
We have been getting shots recently. While they are not 100%, they do reduce the odds and current flu stains can be bad
