It looks like there are going to be new guidelines for what's considered high blood pressure in the U.S.
The new standard will establish 130 over 80 as the onset of hypertension, bringing it down from 140 over 90
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2017/11/13/blood-pressure-of-130-is-the-new-high-according-to-first-update-of-guidelines-in-14-years/?utm_term=.090029dfbd85
Do you think this is a good idea or cause for alarm?

Wondering if this is an economic move or a true health move???

More people diagnosed with hypertension equals more doctor care which equals more income for the medical industry. Can't read the entire article because I am not going to subscribe to the WP.

Okay, I see with the way your health care system works in the USA.

				Exactly.

Bingo!
Especially now that we are forced to have healthcare. I heard on the radio this morning that the FDA finally approved a digital tracking pill. I knew it was in the works, but now its official. They mentioned schitzo patients, and the new tracking pill would make sure you take your medicine. Now medication is gonna be enforced. I dont like the road this is all going down. When that one senator warned that Broccoli Wednesday would be coming, he may of not been far off. I can see healthcare cost to the person paying going up depending on what they eat and drink... of if they take the forced medication.
My grandma, who is schitzo, thinks shes grandpa when not on her medicine. I think shes best when she dont take it. When she does take it, she seems depressed.
My son, they said he had ADHD, and wanted him on meds. I was against it but his mom insisted to see if it helped him in school. I wouldnt let him be on it more than 2 weeks cause I saw how it made him. Turned him into a zombie.
Fuck pills! And fuck the big wigs enforcing this shit.
Ever watch Equilibrium? They forced the citizens to take a mood dulling pill. No emotions. Just go to work.
You watch, they are gonna enforce shit like blood pressure medication. Cause if you dont take it, then you become a higher cost risk to the insurance industry. They are doing all this in baby steps. Watch!
Btw, health insurance has skyrocketed! Glad I dont have any nor had any in nearly 25 years lol.

				Normal in Finland is 120-129/80-84.

I dont have any lol. Havent since I was in school and mom had me on medicaid, almost 25 years ago.
I remember nearly 20 years ago I looked into it for the family, think I was quoted around $200 for all 3 of us a month. Just recently, I seen a quotation sheet from a provider, and just for me, it was $560 a month! Thats crazy!

Mine was about a thousand  a month for me and my family pre obamacare,  thanks to Odumbo it went up $200 a month.  There is also a high deductable so we stay away from emergency rooms.

Holy crap!
That would leave me with $200 a month to pay my bills and food! After taxes and gas to work, I bring home $350 a week. I think its much healthier that I DONT pay for insurance lol.

Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan covers medically necessary procedures and doctor and hospital visits. Extended medical such as dental care, pharmacare  and vision are covered by  private insurance usually through one's employer.
Does your insurance cover all of these?

				Mine hit 200/120.
That was Doctor time for sure.

I agree its ridiculous.  I only pay it because I don't want to go bankrupt if something terrible happens to me or a family member.  There were years where I bought no insurance.  Now because of obungles, they fine you if they catch you not having insurance.

These are the Obozo plans.  Mine is the bronze which costs about $14,000 a year and covers just about nothing.

My son is grown, and he actually got him a job that provides benefits, they kick in next month so hes squared away. Im fairly healthy, so if something happens to me then oh well lol. Time to go lol. Maybe one day I'll work for someone that provides benefits. I aint buying that Ocrap, thats crazy on the cost for not getting much of nothing. Right now, when I file my taxes using TurboTax, I check the box that says I cant afford it, and I get exempt. No fine. They start fining me and Im gonna be pissed!

This is true!!!
I saw this recently, that an Engineer figured it out....
Quote
Is there a single soul who is surprised that an Engineer came up with this?
Here are the 10,535 pages of Obama Care condensed to 4 simple sentences.  As humorous as it sounds....every last word is absolutely TRUE!

1. In order to insure the uninsured, we first have to un-insure the insured.

2. Next, we require the newly un-insured to be re-insured.

3. To re-insure the newly un-insured, they are required to pay extra charges to be re-insured.

4. The extra charges are required so that the original insured, who became un-insured, and then became re-insured, can pay enough extra so that the original un-insured can be insured, so it will be 'free-of-charge' to them.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is called "redistribution of wealth" or, by its more common name, "SOCIALISM," or "PROGRESSIVISM ," the politically correct names for COMMUNISM!

I provide a standard  package of extended medical, life and dental for all my employees. It costs them  approximately $67 per month for full family coverage.

Said it before, say it again.
So many nations have a fair and reasonable universal health care system. The US could have cherry picked the best successful option and simply copied it. But noooo....in all of that debate, someone has to make a profit. Our health insurance companies were significantly downgraded when we switched to universal care. They are no longer major players in providing health care for all.
Try adopting the same structure. You'll be surprised how easy it is.

I don't follow you Bricktop and I don't know much about how Australia provides health care.

Australia, the UK, many European nations, Singapore and New Zealand all have universal health care. All work well.
In Australia, everyone pays 1.5% of their tax to the universal health care provider, Medicare. No exclusions.
People can choose their own doctor as before. They can also choose private health cover if they wish. There are issues, to be sure. Hospital queues are longer if you don't choose private facilities, and many people receive cover without paying a cent...but the fact is everyone gets health cover, and overall our nation enjoys a high rate of medical care.

We have universal basic medical care too, but unlike other Western countries, plus Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, Canada  doesn't allow private competition for health coverage.
