Ugh!  What a pain in the ass!   The screen is shot I guess....it wont light up.....im gonna have to buy a new one....any suggestions for something affordable?

I think they still make a cheap flip phone, which would be OK I guess, if you're just using it to talk!

I think some of the lower end Samsung's start @ $200.00 or so.  Might be OK if you need a smart phone.

Why not get an iPhone, I mean it'll less likely to break down and force you to buy another one, plus they have better resale values in case you plan to upgrade.

Well, if she's seeking a cheaper phone, iPhone may not be in her budget...

That's true, but even a iPhone SE would save a lot of problems in the future, even though we call it a phone, it's really not a phone anymore but an all in one ultimate device, lol.

Well, depends on what she needs the device to do...  Believe it or not, some people still do use their device mainly for talking...

I kid you not...  My Aunt has this flip phone.  It costs $100.  They still make them.  She only uses phone for emergencies.

Just wondering Berry do you have budget range you can tell us or what do you usually use the phone for.  This way it'll be easier to find one that suits your needs.

I agree. I cannot go back to anything else now after having one but it took me this long to actually consider it. I totally love mine.

Some ppl say an iphone isn't worth it but it'z b/c they've never used one before.  Just the simplicity and how clean and organized it is, top notch in component and craftsmanship, and the high debugging/glitch free rate of the app store apps is worth every penny imo.

I've had good like with my Samsung so far.  It's built well, with aluminum and Gorilla Glass outer shell...

I enjoy learning how to operate my Apple products at the Apple store. They have a good thing going. This is not to say I don't like Microsoft. I like it too still.

Samsung's another quality brand I like  ac_cool , at first I was hesitant to switch from my iPhone to a Samsung phone after hearing about all the glitches on Android phones but turns out it wasn't anywhere as bad as it seems.  Dun think much could go wrong even with an entry level iPhone or a Samsung, lol just make sure to stay away from the China brand ones if you don't want CCP peeping on your personal data.

Entry level Samsung's seem OK.  They don't have Gorilla Glass, or are they certified water and dust resistant like the mid to high end models are, but if treated with care, should work just fine for average person.
I almost bought a low end Samsung for their attractive price, but decided to go with their mid-level line instead.

Aren't there some pretty clever LG's around at reasonable prices?

LG has lower priced models also.
It's good that Berry asked a question, and then disappeared instantly.  That way we can only assume what she needs in a phone...

$500 max.  I generally use for texting and some phone calls.  I use gps A LOT, I cant live without it!  I also play some games and I want something with a decent camera...I use my phone for pics a lot...I cant afford to get a super duper camera right now.

Texting, talking and pics.  I use IG sometimes to talk to people...my kid always texts me thru there (i dont know why as she can just text me from her phone) so I need that.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), which may come in right around your budget.
Their mid-level line, with Gorilla Glass and aluminum outside, plus certified water and dust resistant.
I have not had a problem with it.

Maybe you should have taken my gift card...  Timing would have been right to use it to buy new phone...

I didnt know my phone was going to die.  Im not one for taking money off people.  But right now I need to make the right choice for a phone.  Information helps.

Galaxy A5 would be around that budget.  Remember though, it's not a

The card wouldve been nice but giving my addy im not comfortable with.  Im trying to start new these days.  A new life with new people.

I have 2 tablets and a lap top here...so those are good for home lounging.  I dont need a super huge screen but something decent enough to call text and pics.  Im not trying to impress people with my phone...I dont care who has the latest phone, it doesnt make them cool.

Fair enough.
Check out the Galaxy A5 (2017)...  it may work for you.
I mean, I can buy any phone I want, so for me to buy the A5 should show I have enough confidence in it.

Is it in the $500 range?

Yup.

How memory are we looking at to have a decent phone?  Or unless I place my memory card in there?

What do you like about it?

It's well built, and has good battery life.  External speaker is good enough also.
This is my work environment (I have since cleaned my back window.  Didn't realize how dirty it was until I tried to film through it):

Think an iphone SE for about $270 USD on amazon would be a good option, they have really good cameras that takes more realistic pics with better natural colouring compared to the Samsung S7 edge that I'm using, but if you'd like photoshop pics then Samsung's better.  Plus they have more quality apps and games compared to Android.  The main downside is the phone only have a 4 inch screen which might be too small for today's web browsing and other heavy task stuff.

Ya, the A5 has a 5.2" screen...  but will still fit in my pocket.
