Once they have your sample, like "23 and Me" does in my case, they will email you optional questions to answer...  There is no pressure to answer them, and it is completely optional.



The reason they do this, is what they are finding...:  More than you think is contained in your DNA.



As an example, they are finding that a fear of heights is actually genetic, and not so much a 'learned' behaviour.



It is quite interesting to see the outcome of their work, even though much is left to be studied.



They are finding what I knew all along...  That personality and behaviour is more genetic, than it is learned or taught.



Religious people don't like this idea, and will often discard any data, but the proof is showing as more people get these tests done.

Ive heard different stories.  Some Natives dont live on the reserve but have asked their band for funds in education. ...the band either wont give it to them or will give it them only if they actually live on the rez while attending school....which is really stupid because most rez are remote and smack in the middle of nowhere....so say someone from a band up north wants to go to UBC...its literally impossible.



Natives living on the rez get money from their band to live (which is peanuts) but if they leave and live off the rez, the band wont help them...leaving many no option but to be stuck on the rez.   Ive heard so many sad stories.  There are a few I known that just upped and left and paid their own way, it was a struggle but they wanted away from that life.



It generally just depends from band to band...majority are just crap but there a few that actually do help their people.
