I'd never thought I'd be in a position to buy it.

Nice. Not a bad choice at all. Back in the day you could have snuck 6 or more people into a drive in with that trunk.

Quite right.



The power steering is far too light with no road fell at all. The suspension is soft, so the thing "floats"...nice in a straight line on a smooth road, not so much in bends or on dirt.



The excess metal adds weight that needs more power to get it moving, thus demanding larger engines which gargle fuel at a phenomenal rate by comparison to modern vehicles. A 2.4 litre Camry is probably quicker off the line.



But they had style, and were an important part of motoring history and must be preserved. In their time they were the most desirable cars available and turned heads wherever they drove. I remember driving a 63 Pontiac coupe and thinking I was king of the world until I had to put more fuel in.

It ended up in the US, and then a private buyer from Quebec bought it.



Quebec buyer eventually decided to donate it to museum in Ontario...

The brakes are made of cardboard, the steering is held together with cable ties, and the airbags are a couple of balloons connected to an airhorn.
