What the fuck is the Asian guy doing there in the middle? How'd he get on there? Never occurred to me before... Anyhow, my Grandfather is at the far end, and he would've been 14 years old at the time. Your grandfather lucked out. They were allowed to work, come and go, and date as long as they checked in regularly.

I've known a couple families who started in that camp. When they were finally free, they resettled in Australia.

His Father, my Great-Grandfather, was actually quite high up in the Nazi regime at the time. He NEVER spoke about what his job was. Not even his immediate family knew what his job was. He took that to his death bed, even long after the war had ended.
I think that to cope, it's often just better not to linger too long onto thoughts of bad times of the past... Not everyone can do this, but they seemed to manage.
