I was amazed as well.



But the croc is what we call a "freshie", that is a freshwater crocodile native to northern Australia. They are regarded as relatively harmless, and only attack if you wander near the nest at breeding time. However, tis best not to wander into their territory at all, as despite their small size, they can still take a nasty chunk out of your leg. They also like to chill in trees, and if startled leap on the unsuspecting below.



Not dangerous, but not what I'd call a family pet.
