I wouldn't really recommend online internet dating, it's a minefield. You can't rely on a photo being an accurate representation of someone, especially with all the snapchat type filters around today which make people look better than they really are. Also there's a LOT of crazies and headcases online, due to many of them not having friends to go out with and meet people in person.
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the old fashioned way, I like to meet women face to face, at least that way you know what you're letting yourself in for.

I never tried online dating, because what I was seeing and hearing was it was mostly a sausage party, and that most the ladies that do get on there, are there to use the guys that are on there. Not saying all, but most. Like they use the guy for free dinner, drinks and entertainment, then ditch them, sometimes even meeting a 2nd date that may look better to them for the late night. I've even heard of stories of a woman dumping a dog onto their date, giving a false number, and never hearing anything else from them. Im sure some men are bad too, but Im hearing so many stories of innocent guys being taken advantage of.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you are young and want t a no strings attached hook up, the internet is better than the best bars. If you are over forty and looking for a lasting relationship, not so much.

I think the most important thing is realize where your underlying negative feelings come from and let it go. Don't dwindle on what your parents couldn't give you...they did their best while trying to live their own lives. It's too bad you had to go thru that but now it's your turn and time to live the life you want.

I'm shocked how civil this thread remained. Even though I did post it while drunk, the meaning is nonetheless there... No Troll. This is what I mean, when I say that 4Chan is at times better than these two forums in actual usefulness, but not in this case! In this case, the advice is solid.
I absolutely stay away from any kind of online dating. Tinkered with it in the past, and it's a quick way to get depressed and discouraged faster than any other form of dating known to man.
I'll touch on that here more in depth... It IS a complete sausagefest! Men outnumber women like 10:1, so unless you're Brad Pitt, you're fucked. When my ex started talking to me a couple years after our divorce (I knew she had a POF profile by then), I asked her about it... She may be like many other women: Profile is only set up for an ego-boost, and as a novelty. She never had any intentions to meet up with any guy, unless he was Brad Pitt, of course!
So, online dating = stay the fuck away, especially if you're male.
I think it's possible to become friends with people online who share common interests and philosophies and find a romantic lead out of it. Possible but probably not very likely.

I'm still old school, and 'in person' I also believe is the best way... Side note: Met my Ex in an old folks home that my Grandmother lived in before she passed. Ex was an employee there.
Problem is, I'm an introvert, generally speaking. I can handle people, groups and crowds, but I typically avoid such environments most of the time, given the choice.
Herein lies the real problem... I don't necessarily like people around all the time, but I like having a companion around.

Im tellin' ya, the articles in there give a lot of pointers. You dont have to buy any of their products, just read some of the articles. Its really as simple as saying hello to start. They recommend you approach multiple women in a day. Even if the majority reject you, just keep going. It gets you in the habit of doing it so you break the approach anxiety. I'll admit I didnt exactly do all that, I experimented a lil, but I wound up meeting a girl and stuck with her lately.
