Title: What would YOU do?
Post by: Superchecker on February 01, 2018, 12:24:49 PM
Gas locally is $1.489 a litre; but a short 20 minute drive across the border find gas at $1 a litre?

Looking to fill up means like 50 litres. I'd save nearly $25 venturing across the border...

What would YOU do?

What would YOU do?

Since you have the time, I would cross the border if I was you Superchecker..

You can buy some beer while you are there too.

That's no fucking typo Blaze. Those are greater Vancouver gasoline prices.

I didn't notice the typo because I knew what Sup meant. Vancouver has always had sky high fuel prices. Ours have soared lately too. Oh and our carbon tax went up again too on January 1 of  this year.

That carbon tax is a load of shit! Like, even more shit than Obummercare. As citizens y'all should stand up to that kind of tyranny. Then again, they know y'all wont cause its prolly too cold outside to protest

Canadians don't revolt against taxes the way Americans do..

The carbon tax is a cash grab by governments that won't live within their means.

Think its called "taxation without representation" here. This country was formed to get away from taxes and tyranny, looks like the queen slipped in under the radar cause it sure aint the way its suppose to be.

Oh I know its a cash grab. When y'all have so many trees that clean the air, there is no need for them to grab money to go towards cleaning efforts or whatever.

The revenues from our carbon tax are not neutral and do not affect the climate at all...it's all a big lie.

It depends on how many k's "across the border" is.

Burning $20 worth of fuel to save $25 is a waste of time. But burning $1 to save $25 is a no brainer.

On the other hand, watching queues of cars lined up to save 5 cents a litre, then buy 50 litres saving a prince's ransom of $2.50 is as dumb as it gets.

With the soft drink taxes Seattle has done and the meat taxes being proposed, it could almost be cheaper to drive around in circles and fill up on everything at the right spot.

But then they'll say there should be a driving tax.

I don't cross the border for gas.  I live 15 minutes from the border, but I don't like wasting two hours idling, waiting in customs line, just for gas.

Years back it was OK, and I did that, when a border trip was quick!

Now, the fucking Chinks flood to and from the border...  Chinks like to spend five hours saving five dollars!

No fucking thanks.  Let the Chinks idle their vehicles there all day.

I only go if I need a specific item I cannot get here.

With federal and provincial gasoline taxes along with a provincial carbon tax, we already pay something like a fifty per cent carbon tax.

TransLink is trying to implement exactly this! Pay $1.27 every time you cross a bridge, or use a tunnel, in metro Vancouver.

I don't mind road tolls. But, Vancouver is double dipping with gas taxes and road taxes. They are frickin greedy.

My son went up north near New Hampshire a few months ago. He didnt have change for the tolls, so they told him they would send a bill. Well, since the car was in both our names, of course the bill came to me. They charged him "administration fees" and tried making him pay over $150 for 3 tolls that came to $5. I got him out of one of them, but he still had to pay a lil over $100.

When I lived and worked in Pennsylvania, I got a photo ticket while in New Jersey. I did not want to pay it because I was going overseas again right away, but I did anyway. Believe it or not, it can cause problems if you want to drive into the states if you do not pay it.

We don't have toll  highways in my province, but they do next door in BC..

I thought it was like a quarter each time one drove on a toll highway.
