Title: Any Current/Ex-Junkies Here?
Post by: Angry White Male on March 03, 2018, 09:11:17 PM
Google is of no help with this one, so I turn to the forumz.

Most Heroin junkies just sort of get 'doped up' after they shoot up.  We know this, and generally know how they behave.

However, there is a small percentage of Junkies, all seemingly female for some reason, that exhibit completely different behaviour after they shoot up.  They bend and contort their bodies in weird, strange ways.  Like really fucking weird ways.  They make weird fucking faces, and just exhibit the most bizarre movements, facial expressions and behaviours.

My question is, why the fuck do they do this?  What's the pharmacology behind this?

It's hard to locate this info, but I have heard one:  'Acting out their high.'

Again, doesn't make much sense to me, but I am not a Heroin junkie.

And Google has ZERO hits in regards to this search.

My best friend has battled heroin addiction for years, but I can trust him with my life and he has never stolen from me or done me any wrong, so the stereotype of all 'junkies' being thieves who will rob from their friends and family for their next fix is not always the case, it depends on the individual.

He is currently on methadone and trying to sort himself out I'm glad to say, but getting off the brown is a long, difficult process because once that nasty drug gets hold of you, you are dependent on it.

The addiction factor is primarily the reason why I have never ever tried the stuff, or ever will for that matter, because I have seen first hand the chaos it causes.

Fash has been battling a heroin and meth addiction for years. She finances her habit by peddling her wrinkly 40 year old ASS in the Forest Lawn area of Calgary.

The relapse rate is as high as 98%.  Basically you're hooked for life, if you like the drug.

I have tried all illicit drugs, but none of them have ever managed to taken hold.  The reason?  I like to get my drink on!  And all drugs interfere with my beer drinking pleasure time!  That's the truth!

I have snorted, injected, smoked and drank everything. I can't believe I'm still alive.  I've been sober a long time now. I will be 49 next month.

I tried LSD once it was probably fake cause nothing happened

Snorted cocaine three times, didnt feel much from it

Smoked pot a few times, made my stomach feel terrible so I stopped

and drank a lot in college and continued into my twenties

I don't do any drugs anymore, I rarely drink alcohol, maybe ten to fifteen beers a year.

My only addiction is to diet Dr pepper.

True that, once you feel that high you are going to want to experience it again, which is yet another reason why I would never dabble with heroin.

Combine that with the physical addiction side of it, and it makes me truly believe it's the worst drug in existence.

Heroin (and all opiates) is one of two drugs which become PHYSICALLY addictive. That is to say that once hooked, the body refuses to function without it. Hence the terrifying physical response to withdrawal that drives addicts to ease the pain by taking more drugs. That is aside from the psychological dependency that ALL drugs create.

Oddly, the other drug that creates a physical dependency is alcohol.

Drug use and dependency is a health issue, not a criminal issue.

Alcohol is without a doubt my favourite drug of choice.

Although I have admittedly overindulged plenty of times on it the past, but I usually just drink on weekends these days, mainly for health reasons but also because it is f4cking expensive!  ac_wot

By reducing stress and upping positive emotions, I wind up reducing risk of a heart attack

Back when I did kick into the health thing, I quit various things, at one month intervals. No alcohol wasnt so bad for a month, because I only drank on the weekends at the time anyway. But then you hear a drinking song or something, and its on lol! My alcohol drinking increased over the past few years, like 2-3 nights of the week I might have just a few sips, but Saturday night, and most Saturday nights ever, I usually drink to have a good time. Plus I'll throw in one day out of the week I might have a half dozen shots. So yeah, every day but Tuesday    (Im really not that bad lol)

I use to drink some years ago.  I was under a lot of pressure and stress.  I can't stand alcohol.  I don't drink anymore.  Except for the odd glass of wine or grand Marnier with tea.  I prefer to smoke a doob in the evening or eat a pot brownie or candy.  Everything else is garbage.

It just becomes a routine.  What once started out as fun ends up in addiction.  Or a pain killer from a surgery.  Like they say, "what goes up, must come down"...that is addiction...thw high from alcohol and drugs is a big stimulation on the brain and body...it feels good...but once it leaves the system, you start to come down...you crash...feel like ultimate shit...the only way to get rid of the horrid feeling is to drink again  or do drugs...whatever the addiction is...it makes a person "feel better"...mostly they just continue to bypass going thru the withdrawal stage...that is a hard fight.

With addiction, there are only 2 choices, either get clean or die.

People can become addicted to prescription drugs as well.  They're legal so it's labelled as ok.  It's such garbage.

The zopiclone I was taking is addictive.  I got off of it cause I was tired of it and the side effects I suffered.  It wasn't horrible getting off but it threw me off balance.  Now almost 10 mo  later, I feel so much better.  I still have problems with insomnia...which is why I use the weed.  I don't want prescription drugs just because they are legal...but weed is going to be legal in 4 months anyway.

How is it "dangerous?"

Compared to the zopiclone...a legal prescription drug...which cost me my short term memory, dependency to want to use it,...yes, I couldn't wait to take this pill and go to bed.  It kept me on a routine, sleep/wake cycle bit really fucked up my mind.  The weed has never done that to me at all.

Brick if you don't like weed, the  that's your choice.   But you don't need to go around telling everyone how horrible it is.  Lots of people find it medically helpful for whatever medical situation they have.  Let them be.

From what I understand, you are an ex cop.  And most cops are ignorant in my experience.  My sister's significant other is a cop (American) and to be honest, he is the most ignorant cop I have ever met.  I don't like the way he talks to my parents and the garbage he puts in their heads.  He doesn't talk to me cause I challenge him and won't listen to his bullshit.

Now I just don't bother to go over when both of their dumb asses come over.

Yes I smoke.  I hate it.  I'm not going to defend it just because I do.

I'm not a heavy smoker and still trying to quit.  I can smoke max 5 a day.  Sometimes I go days without smoking.

I will agree that cigarettes are the worst ever.  They are horrible for our health.  2nd hand smoke is no better.  I'm not going to try the vape cause I want to switch over from one to another...I just want to quit period.  One day I will and I will be done with it.

I know how hard it is to quit smoking. I am glad I did.

The media is using too many scare tactics about marijuana.  They are making it sound like its worse than street drugs or alcohol.  It's so pathetic.

Weed is not dangerous and it's not addicting at all.  I don't use it everyday...just when  I need to.

Can't you get the candies at a dispensary in your area?

Im in Virginia, its not legalized here yet

My first experience with a dispensary was my trip to Seattle back in May. I loved it lol.

If you mean cigs, I'll tell ya how I quit. I bought me a pinch hitter that looks like a cig. Worked like a charm. Popped a piece of gum when I got a craving while I was working. Getting past the first 2 weeks is the worst, but if you get past 2 months, you're golden. Just dont look back.

Which is another way of saying ALL drugs are dangerous. None are safe, because they are alien to our physiology AND psychology.

Do you smoke?

Do I LOOK like I smoke?

Sheesh.

My addiction is well known to everyone here. It's no secret.

Total taxes paid in Canada last year by tobacco users:  $8,390,350,320.

And marijuana will soon be legal here on a Federal level, which should bring a decent tax windfall in also.  Not that I really care too much though, since I don't smoke weed.

I was just joking cause it rhymes.  I don't smoke it to get high...I sure some people do.  I just do enough to get the medicine in me and it eventually makes me tired.  I can't do It during the day, I'd fall asleep and be a waste of  a day...then I'd never be able to sleep at night.

Some do.  Some use it for other purposes.  You'd be surprised how many people use it for insomnia.

Some use it to relieve stress, anxiety, fear or pain.

It's helped people with severe Tourettes syndrome.

Cancer patients use it after chemo.

Bunch of different reasons.  But if rather people have a few hoots and chill than a few drinks and get whacko.

You're right about all these reasons. Most is why I do it, insomnia and stress being the two on your list.

It also really helps cancer patients during chemo too, because the chemo sucks the appetite out of them and makes them nauseous. The pot takes away the nausea some, and helps with appetite.
