While I still believe in the actual science of AGW, we cannot ignore the deceptions either deliberate or not that have fueled alarmism.

Now the progressives are using a lot of the same totalitarian methods they do on other free speech matters, intimidation, social ostracization, even deliberately trying to silence detractors with lawsuits.

Lefties have even just recently created a play called 'Kill Climate Deniers'

I've heard some of these instances of manipulation of data and then cover up after..

But, why doesn't the really big media in Canada and the USA even report it..

If they do report it they blame the whistleblower.

And Justine keeps writing IOU's he knows he can't pay.

From Lorrie Goldstein of Postmedia

Federal Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine Mckenna's claim on Tuesday that Canada will meet its 2030 industrial greenhouse gas emission targets would have been more credible had she explained how.

Particularly so since the Brian Mulroney, Jean Chretien, Paul Martin and Stephen Harper governments all made similar claims while failing to meet their emission targets.

Indeed, the Chretien government knew, when it signed the Kyoto accord in 1998, that it was highly unlikely to ever achieve its promised targets, as acknowledged in 2007 by Chretien's former principal secretary, Eddie Goldenberg.

The Justin Trudeau government's pledge to Canadians and to the international community, through the United Nations, is that Canada will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions linked to man-made climate change to 30% below 2005 levels by 2030.

This used to be Harper's target which the Liberals in opposition mocked, before adopting it once in government.

To achieve this, the Trudeau government will have to reduce Canada's emissions from 722 megatonnes (Mt) annually to 517 Mt in less than 13 years.

This 205 Mt annual reduction would require the equivalent of shutting down Canada's transportation sector (173 Mt annually), plus 66% of our waste disposal sector (48 Mt annually).

To put the unlikelihood of this happening in perspective, Canada between 2014 and 2015, the last year for which statistics are available, reduced its emissions by a mere 5 Mt annually.

This also assumes the Trudeau government will still be in power in 2030, which seems unlikely.

The less fantastical goal for this government to actually achieve, since it will be in power until 2019, would be its commitment to Canadians and the international community to reduce Canada's emissions to 17% below 2005 levels by 2020.

To reach that target, the Liberals will have to reduce Canada's emissions from 722 Mt annually to 613 Mt, or by 109 Mt annually, the equivalent of shutting down our electricity sector (79 Mt annually) plus 41% of our agricultural sector (73 Mt annually) in less than three years.

In December, Mckenna reported to the UN that even if it implements its entire climate action plan, including projects envisioned but not yet begun, it will fall 66 Mt short of its 2030 goal.

A 66 Mt shortfall would mean shutting down the equivalent of almost all of Canada's agricultural sector.

In assuring Canadians that the Trudeau government is committed "all in" to achieving its 2030 emission target, Mckenna offered no specifics as to what additional measures to reduce emissions the Trudeau government is prepared to take.

She vaguely cited technological improvements, reforestation and government spending on public transportation, but none of these on their own, or in concert, will come anywhere close to achieving the Trudeau government's 2020 or 2030 promises.

In 2016, the Trudeau government said it would also consider buying billions of dollars worth of "carbon offsets" on global carbon markets, ignoring the fact they are riddled by fraud.

Mckenna's own environment ministry has advised the government that to achieve its emission targets, it will have to dramatically increase its national carbon price, eventually rising to hundreds of dollars per tonne of emissions, compared to its current plan of $10 per tonne starting later this year, rising to $50 per tonne in 2022. The problem is that a carbon price of hundreds of dollars per tonne would provoke a devastating recession given the dramatic increase it would cause to the cost of living for Canadians, unless it was revenue neutral, returning all the money raised to taxpayers in the form of outright grants or tax cuts.

The fact the Trudeau government has no intention of doing this, or requiring provincial governments to do it, exposes its carbon pricing scheme for what it is — a blatant tax grab which will make Canadians poorer while having no significant impact on emissions.

I am still waiting for our politicans...ANY politicians...to tell me exactly how much the global temperature will reduce as a result of their low emissions target.

They are grasping at smoke. The whole notion of reducing global emissions rests on the US, China, India, the EU and Russia. Any country outside this group can do what they want.

It will make no difference.

There is an answer though. Any sacrifices Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders make will not budge the climate needle. If you question it, you are a denier. Just like if you question the wisdom of Justine's budget that allocates money based on race(anything but white), you are a racist and have white privilege.

That is so true!!!

Much is made by our Green scum that Australia generates more CO2 than other countries with the same population, and so tries to shame us into implementing Green power generation madness.

What they fail to mention in their sermons of shame is that we create a lot less CO2 compared to countries of similar SIZE. Of course we generate more shit, when our citizens are 500 km apart, and air travel is utilised rather than rail, which is too slow and inefficient given our population. And our contribution to the total amount of global CO2? Less than 1%

I think Canada's contribution is 1.6 per cent..

But, as has been posted here before, Canadian forests consume a lot more C02 than this country produces.

The fact the latest attack on Canada came from a G-list celebrity at the invitation of our fearless national leader is absolutely unacceptable. But invited, he was, and clearly his eco-worrier pals briefed him on the missive to deliver. "I've gotten a lot of messages from my colleagues in the environmental community, and I have been to Fort Mcmurray, Alberta, it really is an amazing place in the most troubling way," Nye said this week during his mind-boggling visit/photo op/pointless chat with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at an Ottawa university. No, Nye, Fort Mcmurray is an amazing place where equally amazing scientific breakthroughs have allowed us to clean up one of God's biggest oil spills — and repurpose the land as natural wilderness. It's also an amazing place that has brought together Canadians from coast to-coast, both for their economic benefit and for the benefit of the country itself. And further, it's an amazing place that has almost miraculously rebuilt itself and its community after a devastating fire almost razed the city. So don't come into our country and tell us what we are doing wrong in Fort Mcmurray — or anywhere else, for that matter.

Scott Pruitt Will End EPA's Use Of 'Secret Science' To Justify Regulations

QuoteEnvironmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt will soon end his agency's use of "secret science" to craft regulations.

"We need to make sure their data and methodology are published as part of the record," Pruitt said in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation. "Otherwise, it's not transparent. It's not objectively measured, and that's important."

Pruitt will reverse long-standing EPA policy allowing regulators to rely on non-public scientific data in crafting rules. Such studies have been used to justify tens of billions of dollars worth of regulations.

EPA regulators would only be allowed to consider scientific studies that make their data available for public scrutiny under Pruitt's new policy. Also, EPA-funded studies would need to make all their data public.

"When we do contract that science out, sometimes the findings are published; we make that part of our rule-making processes, but then we don't publish the methodology and data that went into those findings because the third party who did the study won't give it to us," Pruitt added.

"And we've said that's fine — we're changing that as well," Pruitt told TheDCNF.

Conservatives have long criticized EPA for relying on scientific studies that published their findings but not the underlying data. However, Democrats and environmental activists have challenged past attempts to bring transparency to studies used in rule making.

Texas Republican Rep. Lamar Smith pushed legislation to end the use of what he calls "secret science" at EPA. Pruitt instituted another policy in 2017 backed by Smith against EPA-funded scientists serving on agency advisory boards.

"If we use a third party to engage in scientific review or inquiry, and that's the basis of rulemaking, you and every American citizen across the country deserve to know what's the data, what's the methodology that was used to reach that conclusion that was the underpinning of what — rules that were adopted by this agency," Pruitt explained.

Pruitt's pending science transparency policy mirrors Smith's HONEST Act, which passed the House in March 2017. Smith's office was pleased to hear Pruitt was adopting another policy the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology chairman championed.

"The chairman has long worked toward a more open and transparent rule-making process at EPA, and he looks forward to any announcement from Administrator Pruitt that would achieve that goal," committee spokeswoman Thea McDonald told TheDCNF.

Junk science crusader Steve Milloy also called on EPA to end its use of "secret science" in rule making, especially when it comes to studies on the toxicity of fine particulates in the air.

EPA has primarily relied on two 1990s studies linking fine particulate pollution to premature death. Neither studies have made their data public, but EPA used their findings to justify sweeping air quality regulations.

Reported benefits from EPA rules are "mostly attributable to the reduction in public exposure to fine particulate matter," according to the White House Office of Management and Budget report. That's equivalent to billions of dollars.

In fact, one of EPA's most expensive regulation on the books, called MATS, derived most of its estimated benefits from reducing particulates not from reducing mercury, which the rule was ostensibly crafted to address.

EPA estimated MATS would cost $8.2 billion but yield between $28 billion to $77 billion in public health benefits. It's a similar story for the Clean Power Plan, which EPA estimated would cost $8.4 billion and yield from $14 billion to $34 billion in health and climate benefits.

Democrats and environmentalists have largely opposed attempts to require EPA rely on transparent scientific data. Said data would restrict the amount of studies EPA can use, but a major objection is making data public would reveal confidential patient data, opponents argue.

"A lot of the data that EPA uses to protect public health and ensure that we have clean air and clean water relies on data that cannot be publicly released," Union of Concerned Scientists representative Yogin Kothari told E&E News.

"It really hamstrings the ability of the EPA to do anything, to fulfill its mission," Kothari said.

Milloy, however, countered and argued it's a "red herring" to claim that forcing regulators to use public science data would harm patient privacy.

"The availability of such data sets is nothing new," said Milloy, publisher of JunkScience.com and senior fellow at the Energy and Environmental Legal Institute.

"The state of California, for example, makes such data available under the moniker, 'Public Use Death Files,'" Milloy said. "We used such data in the form of over two million anonymized death certificates in our recent California study on particulates and death."

"Opponents of data transparency are just trying to hide the data from independent scrutiny," Milloy added. "But the studies that use this data are taxpayer-financed, and they are used to regulate the public."

No. India is on a massive industrialisation and development program.

Why do you think call centres are based in Mumbai? Most vehicle manufacturers are building or have built factories in India. Indian designed and built motor vehicles are now sold world wide. Indian textiles are sold under many western labels. India's military industry is expanding rapidly.

India is trying to keep pace with China.
