Post by: Frood on May 02, 2018, 09:23:05 AM
For being a subversive cartoon that causes young children and jobless youth to oink like pigs and jump in puddles.

Yet they're buying property and infrastructure, building artificial islands, and hoping to become the new leader of the world.

I can think of nothing worse than having those morons dictating how the rest of the world thinks or lives.

Kind of like how Japan has embraced cutting edge technology, but maintains cultural norms that are out of step with the rest of the developed world..

Singapore too is like that.

I had a very vivid dream on the 90's that we were occupied by China and it was very controlled. People that challenged them were disappearing and put on trains to camps never to be seen or heard from again.

I woke up knowing it was a nightmare but also realizing it wasn't an impossible future scenario. I still believe that one day they will be here, welcome wagon or not.

This reminds me so much of a former poster here. He still drops by, but with a couple of alts.

And we're funding it all, whilst our manufacturing resources subside to zero. ac_dunno

Vancouver is a great example of the direct link between cheap Chinese manufacturing, and the riches they've gained from that.  They are essentially taking over Vancouver, forcing many of the locals out due to unaffordable housing costs.

Where does all this Hong Kong wealth here come from?  No DOUBT much of their wealth was made by selling us cheap junk versions of products that we once could make ourselves.

Then again, people want cheap, so I guess in one way the market has dictated that they demand cheap Chinese goods.

Our lust for the shiniest car, the biggest TV, and latest clothes and domestic whitegoods has made China rich.

Not necessarily ALL of China, as there is still much poverty, but most of the ones that come here are not like Fash.  These are extraordinarily wealthy Hongers that have no problem spending $10,000,000 on a house, and each family member (including the kids) will drive nothing less than a new BMW or Mercedes.

And you use the word "drive" in its loosest sense.
