Dramatic security footage shows a suspect named as Elivelton Neves Moreira, 21, approaching the crowd with a gun outside a private school in Sao Paulo.
But his attempted crime backfired when
The video shows Moreira, who later died in hospital, falling backwards and clutching his chest before Sastre shoves him on to his front with her foot having thrown her handbag aside on Saturday morning.
Officer Sastre is being hailed a hero for her act of bravery and was honored in a ceremony by Sao Paulo Governor Márcio França on Sunday.

Tunnel vision. Too focused on the subject, and not your surroundings. Happens all the time.
Luckily thug stopped the slug, as killing a little girl in the attempt to stop a robbery would've made that cop go from hero to zero in a nano-second.
Also, I would state that their training seems a little sub-par compared to ours, as far as firearm handling and control. One handed, and sort of 'flailing' the pistol around.
Certainly finesse of handling and control is lacking. I was not in her position, but training in Western society would be far superior than what we see here in this vid.

And now comes the best part. The cops said they know who probably did it, but they can't go there without evidence. They also told my dad to get a gun and just shoot their asses and toss the bodies on the road next time.

I was mad as hell too. I even circled those few blocks for a couple months looking for the fucker lol. It was a bad part of town that I had to do a pizza delivery at.
I've had stuff stolen too. Car broke into. That pissed me off as well. Had to pay for another window and was still paying on the audio system that was stolen. Stuff stolen at least a few times now that I think about it.

Most weapons of that style have a rather distinctive shape....They look like a child's idea of a generic gun. You know, chew a poptart I to the shape of a gun and get expelled from school, kind of shit....
They are completely utilitarian and homely as a turd.
Glocks and Sigs of that type are promoted as ideal concealed carry weapons. They are easy to use (just pull the trigger) and have few or no external protrusions such as a hammer or safety to get snagged on a holster or article of clothing. They are extremely popular. Spend a bunch of time on a shooting range, and you will see tons of them.

Its even worse than what I thought at first. The lil girl is directly in line before the mom goes to snatch her. The "soldier" did a one handed shot, which is normally less accurate than using 2 hands. Not saying she wasnt accurate mind you. Only after firing the first shot, did they begin to clear. I get ya on the camera angle, but watch again, the guy reaches for someones purse or something, and the lil girl is just standing there in line, right when the first shot is fired. He begins going backward, and the family flees. It happens very quickly. I just watched it 20 times to make sure lol.
Nah, she wasnt off target, hell he was right in front of her lol. But what I and others were cringing over was if her bullet had went through her target and hit the girl. "Hero to Zero" as another person said. Could of went so bad. I was just always taught to be sure of whats behind your target. She clearly reacted as the lil girl was right behind him.
I still say good for her, just glad the lil girl wasnt hit in the process.

Unfortunately it is difficult to tell what's actually transpiring from a video. Was the criminal actually threatening someone's life or just attempting a robbery? Unfortunately without actually knowing what's going on it could mean the legal difference between a "good" shoot and a "bad". But then again it's Brazil, and they probably do not have the same legal definitions of self defense or intent to kill as the US or Canada.
