Title: Remember when North America had a thing for all things Australian?
Post by: Angry White Male on May 20, 2018, 10:42:38 PM
I still remember this commercial as a kid.  He was spastic and foreign...  almost frightening to a small child!

He was replaced by a pink bunny...  Oi!

Perhaps similar as to how David Hasselhoff and his shitty music is somehow hugely popular with the German population, for reasons that cannot be fully explained.

Those commercials ran from the late 1980's to the early 1990's, so one doesn't have to be that old to remember them...

You would have just missed them then.  I think they ended in maybe 1992?  Then came pink bunny.

Back when men were real men, and not sissy faggots!  We had better role models then.

Australian things I can remember--

Mad Max

Men At Work-- early 80s pop tunes, not bad

Paul Hogan as Crocodile Dundee, fun movies

Some movie with Meryl Streep, all I remember was that line "A dingo ate my baby"

Yahoo Serious--this was a fail :negative:

The Crocodile Hunter-- Steve Irwin RIP- what a crazy ass, I enjoyed watching him mess with dangerous animals, unfortunately it was his undoing

Jem was cool too.  I have the entire collection on DVD.  The Kid has watched it all.   They really blew on the movie that came out...I never saw it but the trailer showed completely unrelated to the cartoon itself.
