Back to the op. There are two posters who have influenced me. The first is Fash herself with her tolerant, never say die attitude. The second is Renee because if you disagree with Renee about anything you better bring your A game. If not, she'll wipe the floor with you.

This thread has been a revelation to me. It's helpful to see positive regard among posters.
While I've found several posters here to be "good reads" I think the ones easiest for me to relate to have been Seoulbro, Kiebers and Renee (for widely differing reasons, most of which have already been mentioned.)

As for influence;... over the years of my online life, I've had several posters "influence" me, almost all of them negatively. I won't name names but they range from being just plain stupid, to utterly obnoxious, to skin crawlingly creepy, (I leave it to the readers to figure out who they are). Each and every one of them have "influenced" me in regard to how NOT to behave, think, or present myself, online OR in real life.
As for positive influences, they are few and far between. While I may admire the knowledge, personality or charisma some of you bring to the table, I have to ask; is soaking up a bit of knowledge, passed on by another, really an Influence? I personally do not consider it so.
Knowledge can be gained independently of others, all it takes is a little curiosity and desire to learn. If you don't have that, then chances are you are not going to be influenced by the knowledge passed on by others. Without curiosity or desire to learn, you are basically a dead stick, a dunce, a dolt, an intellectually lazy, cement headed, clod. Furthermore the knowledge that is imparted by others should always be questioned, regardless of how legit or rational it may seem. You have to always keep in mind that forums are primarily places for debate, and many times the knowledge put forth in this form of communication is self serving.

I enjoy posters who know what the heck they are talking about. You would be one of them when the topic turns to firearms and the US constitution. I still have no desire to own guns though.

Anything anyone has to say here or anywhere else online is probably not going to do that, at least not for me. I like to consider myself my own person, with my own independent thoughts and opinions. I will listen to any POV so long as it is reasoned and sensible but there is no one on the internet that will or can make an impact on my character, and I'm pretty confident of that. In my life, those who have impacted my character or behavior have been my parents, siblings, some of my teachers, and one or two of my past coaches. Sorry to say but posters don't fall into the same category.

Subject specific forums are a different story. It's harder to bullshit your way around when everyone on the forum has the same or similar experiences to campare the bullshit to.
I disagree with that. Subject specific forums can have some of the most ignorant posters I have ever seen. They may have a string interest in a topic, but their "facts" are all bs.
Again that's where your own experiences come in to compare the bullshit with. On subject specific forums you can bullshit your way around facts; something either works or it doesn't.
Example, I belong to several subject specific technical forums; firearms, shooting sports and photography, etc...Every so often a Mel type or a troll will show up and try to cowboy his or her way around a subject and will be instantly called out for it. You can't bullshit people who know their stuff....it's as simple as that.
General forums are very different. You have a variety of people, all with different interests and intellectual abilities. Some are informed, some not so much, some could care less. In that kind of environment bullshit grows legs and walks. It talks and develops a life of it's own.

I know what you mean. My Canadians retiring abroad board would get one of them once in a while.
But, I am referring to subject specific forums where most posters don't know what they are talking about. i know one about railways and I can tell not one person has ever worked one day in the running trades. But, they all post like they have.

I think the real puppet masters in this world is the elite, the bazillionaires who have figured out that humanity would destroy itself and the planet in a heartbeat if everybody had equal access to everything.
Of course, many of those incredibly rich are jewish, but the whole thing is not exclusively their making.

You don't see many of these leftie mongrels in engineering or IT, for example.
Places like Brazil and the US were easier to bring the whole thing together.
Lots of white rich kids to feel guilt, the slavery past.
In Europe, they had to adapt. France had to pay for their colonies, Germans will always be the nazis unless they don't let people in. Sweden was too awesome and perfect to stay that way.
Of course, the rest of the "historical debts" by other countries, like the Armenian genocide for example, mattered very little. After all, they didn't have money to "contribute".

You pretty much nailed it. Liberal arts degrees should not receive any taxpayer support. In fact, tuition should be higher to support real degrees in science, engineering, medicine and business.
I'm not really influenced by anyone anywhere.

There is definitely an extremely rich elite that wants to control the earth. Look at who owns social media. Where Scouse gets it all wrong is believing it's exclusive to Ashkenazis. Membership is open to any bazillionaire who is wiling to use their wealth and power to steal our liberty.

Behaviour and character are a little different and I agree only people very close to us can usually influence either..
Topics, interests, even food suggestions are can be a co worker or something you read online.
