Title: ATTN: Australians...
Post by: Chuck Bronson on July 21, 2018, 04:51:12 AM
McDonald's Canada released this new offering just a few days ago.

The "Aussie BBQ & Egg Burger."

I haven't tried it, and probably never will, but I think McDonald's Canada is attempting to culturally appropriate you, at the very least.  For realz...  At the most?  People here may think this is the shit you like to eat.

Is this true?  ANSWER ME NAO!

Actually, it doesn't look that bad in the photo...  Of course, they never look like that when you open the box.

It's not far off.

Looks to have a beef patty, egg, and beetroot on it.

Still requires bacon, lettuce, real cheese, and tomato.

The lettuce should be finely sliced and the tomato thinly sliced. Also, I see no tomato sauce, just mustard which is optional and generally refused or not asked for.

Get all my guidance in and you could order any burger in Australia by saying Burger with the Lot. Except possibly in some parts like Queensland where they chuck on a slice of tinned pineapple, which is fcking feral.

So it's the 'real deal?'

It's tiny and lacks the common Aussie ingredients besides the egg and beetroot. It's a half arsed Aussie burger adjusted for the market. It's the Aussie Steakhouse of burgers.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the beetroot.

It kinda does look good, doesn't it?

Maybe I'll try it this weekend, and report my findings back to the board...

But you are basically german..

Beetroot is a big thing in Germany.

German/Danish to be precise.  I remember my Grandmother using beetroot for some dishes, however, beetroot isn't something you'd commonly see used at your average restaurant here...

Smoothies with added beetroot can be nice.

You're just so thrifty, and prefer to cook at home instead!

Funny thing is, in my area which is Honger rich, they do LOVE McDonald's!

East Asians my age are usually a little more picky when dining out.

Ya. Staying away for these fast "food?" places is  more about being picky than frugal

The same at McPuke's in parts of Toronto too. Koreans, Chinese, SE Asians. Usually under 25 crowd. I don't do Mcgrease anymore. If I want a burger, I will bbq a good one myself. Better yet, some marinated Korean galbi.

Plus they put so much salt and sugar into their ingredients that you can feel dehydrated for half the day while still gulping down the water.

That was just one of the most clever marketing campaigns in history...  Appeal to the child, and they'll drag the parents to McDonald's with them!

Is horseradish the same thing as wasabi?  :confused1:  A nice juicy steak smeared with wasabi, then yea I couldn't agree enough.

I havent been to McDs in years, my stomach dont like it. The beet root makes it interesting, dont think I've had beet root. The burger reminds me of the Cheesy Western at Texas Tavern here, it has burger, egg, cheese, onion and relish on a bun. That and a hot dog from there is good around drunk thirty lol.
