"That bridge is wrong. Sooner or later it will have to be replaced," Brenchic said.

The photo, allegedly taken not long before yesterday's accident, appears to show cables hanging from the sides of the Morandi bridge.

I heard about that bridge...apparently it's not the design...its the lack of not repairing it...they say the last repairs were done in the '90s.

Most likely a combo of not the best design, combined with lack of proper maintenance on said design...

Ouch. Someone is going to pay. Italy has some pretty stringent laws on recklessly causing death.

Its actually a good looking bridge. But the Italians were never too high on function, just form and making things look good. Maybe they shoulda got the Germans to designnand maintain it, eh Mel? They seem to do it right the first time

Actually i wonder where all the suspension cables are?



Doesnt seem like theres much holdin it up.



Seems ta me whenever you go over Alex Fraser or Port Man, theres a mulitide of cables holding those bridges up.



Looks very weak in The center.



Sheesh no wonder why it collapsed.



Was this their way of saving money?
