US customs can also request similar information tho I dont think they fine anyone.

If privacy is the traveler's concern, then perhaps they should just leave their regular phones at home.

Then go to the local 7 11 in the nation they are traveling to and buy a cheap disposible phone which they can destroy and dispose of before they leave the country. The 'dumber' or more basic/unsophisticated the phone the better. Either that or buy a completely new but inexpensive phone in your own country with a completely new sim card new phone number with no trace or history of calls or activity. Then chuck burn and destroy it before you leave the foreign destination you went to.

Yeah if I go travelling abroad, then I won't take my regular phone either.

Thanks for the tip.

Yeah but it seems like they want to herd people into the cloud, because they can access it.

The rub there is that they must have "reasonable cause".

I'd love to to see how they'd establish THAT.

A very progtard country. But, they are also realists. They are a small country and they need trade and to  develop resources.

Mmmm...I'm not sure...met a few Canucks, and they're a bit more fun and friendly. Kiwis have chips on their shoulders the size of small logs.

I think it's because they are the smallest of the anglo-saxon nations.

I thought they were pretty friendly overall. Except the Maoris. They like their liquor and got tempers on them. They are like brown Ukrainians.

Never had a terrible experience with Maori's. They tend to be very easy going and respectful, even the hardened ones (unless you're aggressive, then switches get flipped).

Kind of like Singapore and the Scandinavian countries in that respect.

Like most indigenous races, if they get a belly full of white man's poison, they go full retard.

And they can be extremely violent relative to other races.

Some of my favourite social creatures. You don't often see or hear Maori's trashing other people or age groups unless the maori in question hasn't been at least partially raised in NZ or has a strong family unit wherever else they were born and raised at.

The religious amongst them have heavily taken up 7th Day Adv, Jehovah Wit, Baptist, and other Christian denominations including LDS yet you seldom meet a Maori who won't step out from their faith's doctrines for a spell because it doesn't suit their culture or upbringing.

Maori's remind me of a Polynesian version of the Irish.

I like them heaps.

You can walk up to the most ferocious looking or acting Maori in virtually any scenario, ask politely to have a quick chat, and they will. It's not a weakness. It's a huge strength in my book. Give a Maori basic respect and you'll always get it back.

Granted that some will only be doing it for lip service or because of community around, bit that's still a strength for the community. A community I might add which is often mixed race.
