This is so 19th century, I don't know what to say..
It makes Canada's residential schools for Aboriginals look civilized by comparison.
BEIJING — China on Tuesday characterized its mass internment of Muslims as a push to bring into the "modern, civilized" world a destitute people who are easily led astray — a depiction that analysts said bore troubling colonial overtones.
The report is the ruling Communist Party's latest effort to defend its extrajudicial detention of Central Asian Muslim minorities against mounting criticism.
China's resistance to Western pressure over the camps highlights its growing confidence under President Xi Jinping, who has offered Beijing's authoritarian system as a model for other countries.
A U.N. panel and a human rights group have estimated that around 1 million Uighurs, Kazakhs and other minorities have been arbitrarily detained in internment camps in China's far west Xinjiang region.
The report by the official Xinhua News Agency indicated that key to the party's vision in Xinjiang is the assimilation of the indigenous Central Asian ethnic minorities into Han Chinese society — and in turn, a "modern" lifestyle.
Xinjiang Gov. Shohrat Zakir said the authorities were providing people with lessons on Mandarin, Chinese history and laws. Such training would steer them away from extremism and onto the path toward a "modern life" in which they would feel "confident about the future," he said.

China makes Muslims accommodate Chinese culture. Muslims in the West make Westerners accommodate Islam's barbaric culture.

They are doing to Central Asians what Europeans did to Chinese.
It is well known that Chinese propagandists report on the turmoil and social decay we're experiencing and tell their people this is what "democracy" brings.

We can learn from China as much as they can learn from us.
There is more to that comment than at first appears.
When we look at thriving nations that exceed most western nations, we look at China, Singapore, UAE, Japan and South Korea.
The first three are effectively dictatorships, and the cultures of Japan and South Korea are based in subservience and respect.
Would we in the West be prepared to abandon the whole idea of "democracy", if it were replaced with a unilateral political system in which we stop changing political sides and support just one political persuasion. Is choosing left from right every few years really the best option?
Would we embrace a dictatorship if that dictatorship brought about real wealth and social cohesion?

Most young Taiwanese would disagree with you.
I suspect so.

Not a chance.

I agree...but the current political process isn't doing us many favours either.
They should just ban Islam all together, it is quite easily the most divisive and incompatible religion with any modern civilised society.
Just look at the problems Muslims cause in Europe, while being only a small minority. Imagine how bad it's going to be in the future when their numbers have increased?

China would rather control Islam and use it to work for the interests of the communist party..
They do the same thing with patriotic Christian churches.
