G. Gordon Liddy, a mastermind of the Watergate burglary and a radio talk show host after emerging from prison, has died at age 90.

His son, Thomas Liddy, confirmed the death Tuesday but did reveal the cause, other than to say it was not related to COVID-19.

Liddy, a former FBI agent and Army veteran, was convicted of conspiracy, burglary and illegal wiretapping for his role in the Watergate burglary, which led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. He spent four years and four months in prison, including more than 100 days in solitary confinement.

After his release, Liddy became a popular, often provocative radio talk show host. He also worked as a security consultant, writer and actor.

Sarah Obama, the matriarch of Barack Obama's Kenyan family, died, relatives and officials confirmed Monday. She was at least 99 years old.

Mama Sarah, as the step-grandmother of the former U.S. president was called, promoted education for girls and orphans in her rural Kogelo village. She died around 4 a.m. local time while being treated at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital in Kisumu, Kenya's third-largest city in the country's west, according to her daughter Marsat Onyango.

"She died this morning. We are devastated," Onyango told The Associated Press on a phone call.

"Mama was sick with normal diseases; she did not die of COVID-19," family spokesman Sheik Musa Ismail said, adding that she had tested negative for the coronavirus. He said she had been ill for a week before being taken to the hospital.

Barack Obama sent his condolences.

The Flea Trap / To quench your thirst this Easter...

Spring is in the air and Easter is just a week and a half away, which means we are well past due for an insane new Peeps flavor—but this year, they're making a splash in soda form.

In the most unlikely collaboration since Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli, Peeps has partnered with Pepsi to create Marshmallow Cola, which comes in a three-pack of cute little 7.5-oz. cans. Sadly, these won't be available on grocery store shelves this year, but fans can enter the sweepstakes to win some by hashtagging "#HangingWithMyPEEPS" on their social media photos.

More specifically, the prompt tells you to share photos enjoying your favorite springtime activities—"in a safe, socially distant manner," of course.

Jessica Walter, who played a scheming matriarch in TV's "Arrested Development," has died. She was 80.

Walter's death was confirmed Thursday by her daughter, Brooke Bowman.

The actor's best-known film roles included playing the stalker in Clint Eastwood's 1971 thriller, "Play Misty for Me."

Walter's daughter said the actor will be remembered for her work and for her wit, class and love of life.

Walter's feature debut was in the 1964 film "Lilith," with Warren Beatty, Jean Seberg and Gene Hackman, who was also on his first film.

She also snagged a role in John Frankenheimer's racing epic "Grand Prix," from 1966, as the glamorous but discontented wife of a Formula One racer who falls for another driver. That same year she appeared in Sidney Lumet's "The Group," a female-led ensemble about the graduates of a prestigious university (Walter played the catty Libby), and acted for Lumet again in 1968's "Bye Bye Braverman."

Arizona Gov. Ducey relaxes COVID-19 guidelines in Arizona; bars open, masks not required

:yahoo:  ac_dance  :smiley_thumbs_up_yellow_ani:  :23tfup5:  :stars:  :35(4):  :20utj4j_th:

Gov. Doug Ducey's new COVID-19 guidelines released Thursday morning lift mask and social distancing requirements for local businesses and ease restrictions on large gatherings.

Masks and social distancing

According to the newest guidelines, mitigation strategies that were required for businesses, such as mask wearing and social distancing, are now just recommendations. This means that businesses are no longer required to have customers wear masks or social distance.

Large gatherings

Ducey's new guidelines also say that large gatherings of 50 people or more are no longer required to be approved by local governments. However, Ducey says these events should continue to follow safe practices and CDC recommendations, including physical distancing. This includes youth sports.

Bars

The new executive order also allows bars to open without having to serve food. They will now be allowed to resume regular operations, with the option to require social distancing and masks.

According to the news release, Ducey says the changes to COVID-19 guidelines came about after Arizona has distributed more than 3 million doses of the vaccine and has seen a decrease in cases over the last 10 weeks. Ducey also cited reduced hospital capacity, vaccines available to everyone 16 and older, and the CDC's evaluation of Arizona that ranked it among the best states in the nation for getting the COVID-19 vaccine to vulnerable communities.

The Flea Trap / Re: Happy St. Patricks Day!

This is the tale of me ole Uncle Paddy over there in Ireland. Paddy was walkin' along the Moors of Galway one day when he stumbled over something. He glanced down to see an ancient oil lamp there by his feet. Paddy picked up the lamp and knocked the crusty sand from its base. As he rubbed the last of the sand from the lamp...

Poof! Out sprang the Genie!

"Aye an Paddy... this will be your lucky day for I'm the one who'll be givin' ya the three wishes!" Exclaimed the Genie.

Aw just be off with ya now, said Paddy. You're just somethin' left over from last night and I'll not be needin' any of it. Finally, the Genie convinced Paddy that he had three wishes.

Alright then, said Paddy, for me first wish...

I'll be havin' an Everlastin' Guiness!

Poof!

A bottle of Guiness beer appears!

Paddy looks at it and picks it up. Well, I'll be... It looks like a Guiness! There's the little harp on the label and there's the number. And, she's just about the right temperature. I best be havin' a quaff, you know, just to be sure she's genuine.

Paddy drinks the entire bottle of Guiness. POOF! Before Paddy can set the bottle down, it fills back up to the top. "Well, I'll be darn!" exclaims Paddy. Did you see that? She filled right back up. Did you see that? She's an Everlastin' Guiness!

I'll have two more of them!

Roger Mudd, a longtime CBS News political correspondent who reported on the Pentagon's profligate spending, whose interview with Edward M. Kennedy ended the senator's White House prospects and who briefly shared the anchor job at his onetime rival, NBC News, died March 9 at his home in McLean, Va. He was 93.

The cause was complications from kidney failure, said a son, Jonathan Mudd.

Mr. Mudd spent almost 20 years covering Capitol Hill, political campaigns and corruption scandals for CBS News. He did special reports on the Watergate scandal and its fallout, including the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon in 1974.
