Quote from: Oliver the Second on November 29, 2024, 12:47:17 PMThere's still plenty of crime and violence in the states, a lot of it just isn't being reported anymore. The cops just dismiss it or don't even show up. None of that has disappeared, it's just being ignored.

Some cities in Canada are getting worse and more violent like Winnipeg parts of Toronto and urban centers in Saskatchewan. Vancouver is getting worse and there have been a few stabbing deaths. Most shootings here are gang related.

Children dying from guns is actually higher than car accodents in the US & may be the leading cause of death of that age group

Having lived in the US id say its considerably more violent than Canada

1. Watch them fuckers at NATO get squeezed too!
2. Trump will send Spec Ops into Mexico for targeted assassinations and droning the fuck outta cartels.

I don't agree with the OP Lokmeer

It is not Canada's or Trudeau's fault if Trump decides to flap 25% tariffs on Canada eh?

Quote from: Oliver the Second on November 27, 2024, 06:28:49 PMYou could always get JOE coin, it's surging out of a red dip right now.

Nah.

It's all Bitcoin or nothin'!

If I can't get bitcoin, I'd rather settle for a Pet Rock @Oliver the Second Ollie llie

Cuz at least you get something fer yer money.

Do you remember those Ollie when they first came out?

They made its owner very rich and all he had to do was go down to the creek and gather stones.

Now that was sheer genius.

That's what I said to @Garraty_47 Garraty earlier - that the sign of a real (capitalist) genius is to create something/wealth from nothing.

Quote from: Garraty_47 on November 25, 2024, 09:24:47 PMIt's just too bad I fucking suck as a capitalist and never bothered to take my own advice.

lulz

Actually @Garraty_47 Garraty that is the essence of (capitalist) genius or any other for that matter. To take something from very little or nothing and create billions or trillions.

Think Henry Ford or Steve Jobs who started billion dollar companies in their garages or basements.

So not a genius mentality is to spend $100,000 per bitcoin cyz the horse has already left the gate

So the most logical way to obtain bitcoin now is to find ways try to get it for free or forget about & wait for the next pet rock to come along. Im more of both. Sink $20 or do in bitcoin & be on the lookout for something else

But i wouldnt bother to sink $100,000 into bitcoin at this point

Politics / Re: Kameltoe Harris
November 27, 2024, 11:20:41 AM
Tho certainly flawed, Harris ran a gutsy campaign.

It could have been a lot worse if Biden had been allowed to stay on.

Harris might not have been a suitable replacement, but she did her best.

Most of the blame should be placed on Biden for the Democrats' defeat.

Biden screwed the Democrats by putting his own selfish interests ahead of his own party and country.

Interesting that Trump never mentioned Australia @Frood Frood

It's as if he considers Australia more closely aligned with the USA than Canada.

Perhaps he expects you guys to participate in more foreign wars with them like Iraq.

Or wants more US military bases/presence in Australia, eh?

so he won't lay on the wood on the Aussies.

Quote from: Frood on November 26, 2024, 04:12:42 AM"In the US"

but not coming into Canada, right?

You see, that's why it's critical from the standpoint of a consumer.

Say I'd like to buy a high end Nikon camera from China/Japan

since Trump plans to impose 10-25% tarrifs of goods entering the US, the same camera would be up to 25% higher in the US than Canada.

Is that a correct interpretation?

Or am I missing something?

Quote from: Frood on November 26, 2024, 03:49:55 AMSo?

If countries won't stop illegal immigration, they get slugged with a 25% tariff. If China doesn't stop importing fentanyl, they get a further 10% tariff.

Good for the US.

But how will these tarrifs affect nations which don't have any beef with China?

Like if electronic goods are made in China and imported into Canada, Canadians shouldn't be affected by the Trump tarrifs if our government isn't imposing extra duties on Chiense goods.

Or do the Trump tarrifs affect Canada as well with respect to China?

Would Canada be obligated to impose duties on China?

Are we obligated by the same trade treaties with China as the United States?

Or would they impose higher prices on Canada anyway due to the Trump tarrifs?

This might be an issue with let's say pc graphics cards made in China.

If US is imposing duties but Canada isn't, wouldn't something like an AMD/NVIDIA graphics card be cheaper if purchased in Canada than if it bought at a store in the USA after 2025?

Do you own any bitcoin @Shen Li Shen?

wish I did. given its recent rise of $100,000US/bitcoin

tbh I don't understand this Modern Economy at all.

...when something fake is priced more (much more) than assets that a are real.

Oh well new economy I suppose. Signs of changing times.

Mind you what goes up will probably come down hard one day too.

which means it'll eventually crash.
