I dunno, man.  It's worked out well for me, but then, I'm an old fuck and got in on the ground floor just as everything went digital. Now I consult and spend my days when I feel like working gently explaining to younglings what things like CMYK and dpi and DS,A/B mean and why it's important to know when selling added value deliverables for your clients.

And my midlife crises was a nice guitar.  I told my wife she got off easy, but she was still pissed about the money I spent.

I had a Pontiac Aster.  I think they just slapped it on the same chassis, I thought it was gonna fall apart right under me the whole time I owned it.

Oh, my, God, these youngins are so clueless on all that shit!!!! They are digital minded, not print minded.

I don't think I've reached my midlife "crisis" yet lol. I'm very happy I picked up fiddle 5 years ago though. I'd like to get a nicer one this coming year.

It's a nice ride to man!

I still love my Jeep, had it almost 19 years now. I did a lot to it this past year, jus needs some more work this Spring, like paint and stickers.

So I had that choice in '89 and the digital age didn't bode well for graphic design. You must of already had your foot in the door by then?

I know it, little brother.  I prepressed newspapers for a long time as the industry slowly died.  Now I take clients that still need to have shit printed, but there ain't many left who know how to get it done anymore.  It works out for me because there's still clients that need print-ready graphics produced, but there's not many "Graphic Artists" who understand the difference between making a pretty layout on a computer screen and creating a RIP-ready digital file to burn a plate for a printing press.

And keep sawing the fiddle, man.  I like the sound.  I'm thinking of getting a banjo for a late-life crises. :)

I grew in my father's print shop, just as he grew up in his.  In the late 80s, I was with a suburban newsgroup that put out five daily newspapers.  I was very proud of creating the very first digitally created color weather map that ran on the back page of the A section across all five papers.  I think that was the year I got a beta version of Photoshop 1 to play with.

Guess the artist from Detroit.

I woke up this morning with an ache in my head,
I splashed on my clothes as I spilled out of bed,
I opened the window to listen to the news...
But all I heard was the establishment blues.
