What has caused all this? Is there no turning back the clock? Is it only going to get worse? It's just a shame.
Sadly, those days are long gone and it will only get worse.  Because of US immigration policies the democrats pick up hundreds of thousands of new voters ever year.  At this rate in 12 years or less nearly every northern state will be a deep blue, just like california, as well as some southern ones,.  The democrats will have power over nearly everything.  They will get more and more extreme and their antifa minions will become more violent as the dems cheer them on.

Like the saying goes--  Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Well if that's true, then the Republican Party is just as extreme as the Democrats.

This extremism manifests itself in either party trying to outspend each other.

The Republicans want unrealistic, unsustainable tax cuts to among other things, fight wars & support an ultra expensive state of the art military machine. Hey dumbos- that requires taxes just like it did during the cold war when taxation rates in the USA where over twice as high as they are today. And that was under the administration of Dwight Eisenhower when the Republicans also controlled Congress during the 1950s. Incidentally, Eisenhower produced budgetary surpluses not deficits.

The Democrats want their entitlements to among other things, fund an ultra expensive healthcare system known as Obamacare. And I agree with American tourists I spoke with....why did the damn rates keep going up? That didn't make any sense. No fee payer system should cost that much to set up and maintain. I agree there was something wrong with that system.

The bottom line is - whatever your party affiliation I think the USA spends too much and doesnt tax enough for what it wants. Hence the sky high projected trillion dollar deficits. Soon it's national debu will exceed its gdp. That is not a healthy ratio. I'd worry about the debt if I were the USA.

I'd be more concerned about bringing down the US debt than coddling spoiled pampered billionaires or accommodating gen xers who want the state to give them something for nothing.

Didn't Alexander Tytler darkly prophesize that democracy ends when it's citizens vote themselves the treasury?

Incidentally I may consider voting Conservative in Canada if Trudeau doesn't smarten up, curtail spending and bring down our debt. He promised stimulus spending to revive the economy, but now that its in full swing he oughta shut off the tap. I actually agree with Tory leader Andrew Scheer. Theres simply no need at the present moment to be running deficts. The party in power should be cutting spending and socking away surpluses now for a rainy day.

Tax cuts produced more revenue,  not less and tax increases here(federally and in Alberta) did not produce the revenue we were told they would..

That is the premise of Joes post-- that tax cuts are bad because they reduce federal revenues.   SB debunked that entire premise before Joe even posted, but Joe never paid any attention.  https://thebluecashew.net/the-blue-cashew-f2/tax-cuts-not-reduce-federal-revenues-t10059.html">https://thebluecashew.net/the-blue-cashew-f2/tax-cuts-not-reduce-federal-revenues-t10059.html

Sorry Joe, but you failed again. :negative:

BTW in all joes talk about deficits he never even mentions obama, the president under which the debt grew almost as much as all 43 presidents before him combined.

Well Lump I support some tax cuts as economic stimulus but not if they drive up deficits.

Same with social spending.

The state treasury (including Canada's) should only dole out goodies to any special interest group for what it can afford.

While the Obama administration coddled social activists, the Trump administration coddled billionaires who simply do not need a tax cut. Worse yet its driving up the budget deficts and adding considerably to the us national debt.

That saying, I suppose my views conflict with many here.

I'm essentially a Clinton Democrat.

Fiscally conservative but socially liberal.

Thats why I somewhat like Canada's Conservative leader Andrew Scheer, because he seems socially progressive yet fiscally responsible. He's more like the leader I wish the Liberal Party had.

Trudeau isn't pragmatic enough & he's running up too much debt.

Well there you go again Joe .  SB already showed that tax cuts did not reduce revenue.  But you keep saying they did over and over. :dash1:

BTW when I said democrats are  becoming increasingly extreme I was referring to taking more radical positions than before.  For instance Bill Clinton supported border security, todays democrats want nothing to do with border security.  Democrats never called for harassing republicans in public places before, but they are now.    They were for Obamacare before now they want universal health care for all (what do you think would do to the deficit????).  This is what  I mean by becoming more extreme.

BTW do you know who the original tax cutter was?  JFK democrat.  Today's democrat party would want nothing to do with him.  That's how extreme they have become.

Tax cuts combined with less red tape stimulates economic growth producing more revenue, not less as we see from the US.

But, Joe didn't watch DD's climate change video on VF, he didn't read when I explained that congress not the  president is responsible for spending/deficits, so it's no surprise he ignored when I debunked they myth that giving people back their own money drains federal revenue.

He ignores what I post, so I return the favour and ignore his attention whoring troll bs. He can waste someone else's time.

The problem with prog parties like the US Democrats is that they are globalists. True socialists are nationalists, not globalists.

Canada has no major right wing party. The political spectrum here is so narrow compared to Israel. Even Trump who is considered a right wing populist firebrand would be Likudish back in Israel.

Today's democrat party--This is what extremism looks like

Pelosi then added that people from all over have been sending her messages of thanks for "saving the country."

"Thank you for helping take back America," she said. "People all over the place are calling me, writing, in airports, here and there, saying, 'Thank you for saving America.' I give those thanks to you. Thank you for saving America. Reverend Sharpton, thank you for saving America."
Racebaiter Sharpton used to be anathema to mainstream democrats.  Now he is "saving America"  :001_rolleyes:

Not to be outdone in the crazy extreme department, Kamala Harris says ICE immigration agents are equivalent to the KKK :oeudC:

Harris asked Vitiello to explain why the KKK was considered a domestic terrorist group, and he answered that they used "fear and force" to influence politics based on race and ethnicity.

Harris then made a direct parallel from the KKK to the department of ICE.

"Are you aware that there's a perception that ICE is administering its power in a way that is causing fear and intimidation particularly among immigrants and specifically among immigrants coming from Mexico and Central America?" Harris asked pointedly.

"And do you see any parallels?" she asked.

Vitiello strongly rejected the comparison.
