The rest of her, the majority isn't latino.

It's irritating how people pick and choose what they want to be known as.

Obama is meant to be black but his mum was white.

There are a lot of these stupid ethnic game playing antics in high profile people. It needs to stop.
Blahhhhhh...

Mum's, mum's mum surname was Jose...

Am I an 1/8 caste Spaniard?  If great, great grandma Jose was a 1/2 caste Spaniard then I'm 1/16th Spaniard...

oh, oh, it gets very confusing.  ac_umm

Iron horse jockey's maternal grandmother was born in Japan, but he looks Caucasian and considers himself Caucasian..

Why is this thread in Politics?

Frood

The article is about a Republican politician in California. Wasn't sure which way the thread would go.

Claiming heritage to being aborigine in Australia... up to 1/16 caste or something gets you benefits... I might be exaggerating... it might be 1/8 caste. And the financial benefits are considerable.

It's definitely a political topic.

Wazzzup

Seems very weird that there is supposedly so much privilege afforded to being white, but so many people don't want to be white given the choice.  Huh ac_umm

There is no numerical standard for aboriginality.

It you say you're aboriginal, you're aboriginal.

I think you have to apply to the/a tribe to be accepted..

If you know your artists, you might know Robert Juniper (now deceased) his nephew applied to a tribe in WA and was accepted...if they don't accept you... you can't claim aboriginal status. But that is only what nephew Juniper told me.

My bother-in-law from Longreach Queensland mother had aborigine in her so his oldest sister applied for aboriginal status (if its called that) and received it.

Nope. There is no formal process for aboriginal recognition. None. Zip. Zero.

Most would not even know what tribe they came from, and even if they did, aboriginals have no written language, thus no records to rely on.

They have no numbers either. Just number one there is no word for number 2.

And telling people how to think.

The leftists think people don't understand anything and left politicians have to think for us and you usually hear that when they're counting votes.

I heard one of our jailed Premiers Brian Burke say as much on the ABC while votes were being counted.

The day of entitlements are over. With any luck, that'll include politicians.
