The number of people who have caught COVID-19 worldwide will soon reach 250 million.

And deaths went over 5 million last week

= 2+% Death Rate, not .001%  :001_rolleyes:  ... sigh

It is far from uniform globally.

One would expect so, but allowing that the US & Canada for the first 1/2 of it were over 2%

and today US & Canada are both 1.7% ..............

Aint most provinces below one percent?

When one takes current, I use last 10 weeks, some are .. Overall, No

The Prairies has the best record overall, especially in the early days. We were behind a fair bit, but are about even with them today for "Overall"  .. and based on "Recent", are now ahead

Canada Overall since start is 1.7% ... 29,217 / 1,737,434

Encouraging is that past 10 weeks for Canada as a whole  = 0.93% ... vax is working & mainly unvaxxed are dying .. and Canada is one of the highest on vax

US  for past 10 weeks is a high  1.41% ... not coming down anywhere near like us .. then they are not well vaxxed .. . States like Texas & Florida are quite high at 1.70%     & 1.63% Overall

........ both are higher last 10 weeks than overall .. Texas 1.79% &   Florida  2.15%

like WTF are those dummies doin when most everyone else is improving their survival rates?

Further to above, the one that stands out to me is Quebec. For the 1st year or so it was in the 3+ Death / Case rate (really bad & sad)

Of late, they must have figured it out - Their past ten weeks (current) rate has been  around 0.6%  for a while now .. one of the best anywhere .. and pulling ahead of BC & Alta who previously were light years ahead

I wonder why that is.

Dunno. Looks like someone else took the lead and they deliberately set out to improve care (maybe more steroids etc)

They are up to our vaz rates

Quebec Care Homes were ravaged in the beginning ... that started them on the high side, but it continued for quite a while - Then more recently  they pulled off a 180

I would like to know exactly what they did to get current rate down so much  .. especially as they were heartbreakingly high in the beginning

One-third of Iowa deer test positive for SARS-CoV-2, scientists see a new stream of mutations

Free-living animals can act as a reservoir for the virus, allowing it to multiply and mutate into variants with increased transmissibility and virulence, before spilling back into the human population

With COVID-19 caseloads on the decline and vaccines rolling out around the world, nations have begun preparations for the next phase of the pandemic — learning to live with the virus.

However, we may not be fully in the clear, scientists say after a study found the first evidence of animals transmitting the virus in the wild, with troubling implications for the spread of the disease and emergence of new variants.

Released on November 6, the preprint study found that one-third of the white tail deer population in Iowa over the past nine months has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 —  the virus that causes COVID-19 in humans — indicating that not only can deer catch the virus from humans but can also transmit it within their population in overwhelming numbers.

The study has not yet been peer-reviewed or published.

Cases are up again today. I would guess the reason for the rise is the opening of the US border.

I thought Canadians had to have a negative PCR test before returning from the USA?

They do as of today - The Govt is now considering eliminating such a terrible idea .. especially bad for day or weekend trippers which is now almost nobody because of test (Border is VERY quiet in both directions as it stands)

I'm confused. You don't need a PCR test for short trips?
