Current BC local rules are subject to change rapidly if needed

No relaxation in rules in near future here, in fact I hate to say it but very heavy warnings from BC Health on all travel as rules locally and around the world and in Canada may change fast

While some provinces are diving in, BC doesn't trust rapid tests as "there are 45 different ones and reliability is not trusted"

We relaxed our private gathering rules for Christmas and New Year's..

I expect a big jump in cases and our hospitals filling quickly by the time we get back from our trip.

We now have 119 Omicron cases in Alberta..

Canada has surpassed 30,000 COVID related deaths.

cc

We have 135 - This XI is voracious

As we know how transmissible it is, we now need some "real" data on how deadly .. although that takes a bit of time to measure

Ontario is nearly double from a week ago.....they had 2,421 cases today..

Quebec had 2736 cases today...that province will cut capacity limits in businesses to 50% as of Monday.

cc

Canada will be up a lot - data takes a bit to know when  they have all provinces - already almost 7,000 from 4,000's last weekend

UK is almost 90,000 today .. from 50's at start of week (I start weeks on Saturdays)

I saw an infectious expert doc on the news saying there is no proof the omicron variant is less severe than other variants. He attributes the milder symptoms to high levels of immunity from vaccinations and recoveries.

Yes. In fact I posted an article supporting what you are saying

Bottom line - It's early - We do not know what we do not know

I agree with cc, we'll need more time to know for sure..

But, immunity is helping lessen symptoms..

Omicron seems very good at evading immunity.

We will have another lockdown. Ford has given not so subtle hints it's coming.
