I talked to him on reddit. Like the company that I work for the lay off go by seniority.  He's safe. Up to a thousand staff could get the lay off. Superchecker is fairly high up.

I hope Super is ok.  I see many busses go past my place and no one is on them, sometimes maybe 2-3 people.

I'm still working, so I'm all good  :smiley_thumbs_up_yellow_ani:

Do city people still use public transit?

Yes. Public transit here is free for now. The fast food and grocery workers still needs to transit to work.

Not sure here, but in some places entry and exit is only via rear door ... guess that would be only for large buses

All I know, if I was trying to avoid catching the virus, an urban bus or commuter train would be the last thing I got on.

I'm now out of an income too and although I may still have an option, fck them all... I'm not taking risks and will stay home and watch the chaos unfold...

Popcorn anyone?

What happened to your drive time radio gig, Dr. Douche? The truth is you were unemployed decades ago.

Stop your serial bullshit and just admit that you live courtesy of your roommate's government disability check. Telling us about how you have to empty that gimp's drool cup and roll him over twice a day would be more entertaining than half of the unreadable, narcissistic, codswhallop that floats across your sticky, biscuit crumb covered, keyboard.

Gaon

I have gone from working long hours to earn over twenty thousand dollars a month to two thousand dollars a month in social assistance. We came to Canada to work, not sit in our apartment collecting a pittance is government benefits. I am willing to stay two meters away from other workers, wear a mask at all times and carry sanitizer. I want to go back to work now.

The salaries in Canada seem to be wayyyy bigger than in Finland..

You get 20k a month when you are the head of the entire division.

A unionized journeyman tradesman like old Gaon can earn as much as a federal cabinet minister in Justine's government.

sasquatch

So as of February, I'm self-employed/contract thanks to the receivership, so my company has cut my hours down so I will qualify for the new CERB criteria for less than 1000$ per month. That was done yesterday along with other co-workers in order to free up 12 000$. So basically I'm still working, but not enough to pay my bills, so I got no choice but to take CERB as well. So once that's up, I either gotta pray the economy has opened up enough that I can get something else in time or back to work full time at my current job, or draw on my savings for a few months, or pray that CERB is extended(this one is extremely unlikely to me).

It is looking like we'll be getting back sooner rather than later(probably june if you're in Alberta, and May if you're saskatchewan), so all I can do is wait and see
