Southerners looking for evidence that the Confederacy was a Christian nation needed to look no further than their Constitution. Unlike the U.S. Constitution, which does not mention God, the preamble of the Constitution of the Confederate States of America made a direct appeal to "Almighty God":

We, the people of the Confederate States, each State acting in its sovereign and independent character, in order to form a permanent and federal government, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity—invoking the favor and guidance of Almighty God—do ordain and establish this Constitution for the Confederate States of America.

I like the part about each state being sovereign.

The Confederate States Army was one of the most diversified Armies in the

world with Black, White, Native Americans, Hispanics, Protestants, Catholics

and Jews fighting side by side against Wall Street's oppressive tax collectors.

April 9th 1865 Lee surrenders

We lost are country and the right of self government.

160 years later the South is still being subjugated at the hands of centralized Yankee despoted government. But I will always still fight the cause for which they fought and never forget their memory.

 Never Forget  Deo Vindice.

Headquarters, Army of Northern Virginia, 10th April 1865.

General Order

No. 9

After four years of arduous service marked by unsurpassed courage and fortitude, the Army of Northern Virginia has been compelled to yield to overwhelming numbers and resources.

I need not tell the survivors of so many hard fought battles, who have remained steadfast to the last, that I have consented to the result from no distrust of them.

But feeling that valour and devotion could accomplish nothing that could compensate for the loss that must have attended the continuance of the contest, I have determined to avoid the useless sacrifice of those whose past services have endeared them to their countrymen.

By the terms of the agreement, officers and men can return to their homes and remain until exchanged. You will take with you the satisfaction that proceeds from the consciousness of duty faithfully performed, and I earnestly pray that a merciful God will extend to you his blessing and protection.

With an unceasing admiration of your constancy and devotion to your Country, and a grateful remembrance of your kind and generous consideration for myself, I bid you an affectionate farewell.

I'll place my knapsack on my back

My rifle on my shoulder

I'll march away to the firing line

And kill that Yankee soldier

And kill that Yankee soldier

I'll march away to the firing line

And kill that Yankee soldier

I'll bid farewell to my wife and child

Farewell to my aged mother

And go and join in the bloody strife

Till this cruel war is over

Till this cruel war is over

I'll go and join in the bloody strife

Till this cruel war is over

If I am shot on the battlefield

And I should not recover

Oh, who will protect my wife and child

And care for my aged mother

And care for my aged mother

Oh, who will protect my wife and child

And care for my aged mother

And if our Southern cause is lost

And Southern rights denied us

We'll be ground beneath the tyrant's heel

For our demands of justice

For our demands of justice

We'll be ground beneath the tyrant's heel

For our demands of justice

Before the South shall bow her head

Before the tyrants harm us

I'll give my all to the Southern cause

And die in the Southern army

And die in the Southern army

I'll give my all to the Southern cause

And die in the Southern army

If I must die for my home and land

My spirit will not falter

Oh, here's my heart and here's my hand

Upon my country's altar

Upon my country's altar

Oh, here's my heart and here's my hand

Upon my country's altar

Then Heaven be with us in the strife

Be with the Southern soldier

We'll drive the mercenary horde

Beyond our Southern border

Beyond our Southern border

We'll drive the mercenary horde

Beyond our Southern border

So, I'll place my knapsack on my back

My rifle on my shoulder

I'll march away to the firing line

And kill that Yankee soldier

I'll march away to the firing line

Believe me I understand. The thing is, we wanted peace, to be simply left alone. We legally seceded. It was when the North invaded the South, killing civilians, that caused the Southerners to kill the Yankees, the ones that invaded. The Yankees were raping the women, killing old people, children and black folk, and burning crops and livestock to starve us out. Destroying the salt mines that preserved the meat. Looting. You name it. All illegal what they done. Horrendous and evil. All for money.

Now you know, why I despise the name Yankee. In the land of Dixie, them are fighting words.

Pay attention to the other lyrics, how they "left their wife and child" and "who will care for my aging mother". Calling the North "tyrants", and "fighting for justice". "Heaven be with us". Sounds familiar doesnt it?

They were fighting for the same cause as our forefathers in 1776.
