What's a brief history here?

According to a Monday report from BizPac Review, groups of black nationalists gathered in Tulsa to mark the 100-year anniversary of the Black Wall Street Massacre. The race slaughter left at approximately 300 people dead in a Tulsa neighborhood once known as "Black Wall Street."



"We're pushing death to white supremacy. Death to capitalism. Death to imperialism. And death to fascism," an unidentified man can be heard saying in the video. "We are pushing an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a head for a head, and a life for a life."



The man also said that black people were stolen from Africa to work as slaves for white people in colonial America.



"Once they die, we must understand that we can never give them the pain that they gave us," he insisted. "So once they get buried ... once they are buried, we must bury them, dig them up and kill them again. Bury them. Dig them up. And kill them again."



His remarks caused the crowd to cheer.



Emboldened, the man continued, "Because that time will come when there's a rat-a-tat-tat. Black Americans will kill everything white in sight," and promised black Americans would give "crackers hell," "from the cradle to the grave."



Those groups leading the effort included the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, the Elmer Geronimo Pratt Gun Club, the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, the Fred Hampton Gun Club, the New Black Liberation Militia, the Panther Special Operations Command, and more.

Members of the Portland Police Bureau's Rapid Response Team resigned en masse from their voluntary positions on Wednesday in response to a fellow "riot squad" officer being criminally indicted for an action he took during a violent uprising in the city last August.



Officer Corey Budworth, accused of using unnecessary force against photojournalist and provocateur, Teri Jacobs, during a declared riot on Aug. 18, had initially been cleared after an internal investigation by the police department. But on Tuesday, Multnomah District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced a criminal indictment against Budworth, charging him with fourth-degree assault.

"I believe it's an agenda to completely destroy and dismantle local police departments so that the government can have control of law enforcement in this country and push a nationwide agenda," Tatum told Jan Jekielek, host of EpochTV's "American Thought Leaders" program.



Tatum explained that if law enforcement is federalized and there are unconstitutional mandates or restrictions, such as those involving vaccines or guns, the federal government will be able to enforce those directives more easily.



"I believe that the government has a lot more leverage federalizing these agencies, and that's the end goal," he added. "I don't believe it has anything to do with racism, police brutality ... That is a talking point to push an even bigger agenda."



It is this agenda, he said, that "is really the cause of a lot of turmoil that we see in law enforcement and the crime rate that we see spiking around the country."



According to the National Fraternal Order of Police, murder rates over the past year have skyrocketed in cities where police departments have been defunded. As of May 25, the murder rates in New York City and Chicago year on year were up 22 percent, in Los Angeles 27 percent, in Washington D.C. 35 percent, in Philadelphia 40 percent, in Minneapolis 56 percent, and in Portland a staggering 800 percent.

Far-left progressives who advocate radical criminal justice reform policies like "defund the police" claim abolishing traditional policing systems will benefit minority communities.



The race to become New York City's next mayor has focused on crime and safety. Interestingly, Eric Adams, a former New York City Police captain who denounces radical anti-police policies, won a 10-point preliminary lead in the Democratic primary, which, though held last Tuesday, probably will not be officially determined until mid-July.



The Times explained what Adams' success means in terms of far-left Democratic policies and minority voters:



In a contest that centered on crime and public safety, Eric Adams, who emerged as the leading Democrat, focused much of his message on denouncing progressive slogans and policies that he said threatened the lives of "Black and brown babies" and were being pushed by "a lot of young, white, affluent people." A retired police captain and Brooklyn's borough president, he rejected calls to defund the Police Department and pledged to expand its reach in the city. Black and brown voters in Brooklyn and the Bronx flocked to his candidacy, awarding Mr. Adams with sizable leading margins in neighborhoods from Eastchester to East New York.

The results show the majority of black and Hispanic voters, two groups of people Democrats assume will support them, are more moderate than progressive Democrats assume.



In fact, according to Hakeem Jefferson, an assistant professor of political science at Stanford University, the average black voter shares more in common with Adams than, say, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).



"Black people talk about politics in more practical and everyday terms... What makes more sense for people who are often distrustful of broad political claims is something that's more in the middle," Jefferson told the Times. "The median Black voter is not AOC and is actually closer to Eric Adams."



What about minority voters in general?

The phenomenon of minority voters rejecting the ideology and policy agenda of progressive Democrats is not something reserved to New Yorkers.



"[A] growing body of evidence indicates that large numbers of Black and Latino voters may simply take a more centrist view on the very issues — race and criminal justice — that progressives assumed would rally voters of color to their side," the Times reported.



In fact, the share of white Democrats who identify as "liberal" increased from the early 2000s by more than double compared to the share of black and Hispanic Democrats who identify as liberal, according to an analysis conducted by Gallup.



The analysis again suggests that black and Hispanic voters are more moderate than Democrats assume.



"Increased liberal identification has been particularly pronounced among non-Hispanic white Democrats, rising 20 percentage points from an average 34% in the early 2000s to 54% in the latest period. By contrast, Gallup trends show a nine-point rise in the percent liberal among Hispanic Democrats, from 29% to 38%, and an eight-point increase among black Democrats, from 25% to 33%," Gallup explained.

Critics of the defund the police movement in Oakland, California, are highlighting a recent attempted robbery as the perfect example of what inevitably happens when a local government decides to slash its police budget.



According to the San Francisco Chronicle, a scuffle ensued during the attempted robbery before a security officer brandished a firearm and drove the would-be burglars away.



Only days earlier, Oakland's City Council voted to reallocate $18 million of police funding to community violence prevention programs. The bulk of that money will now go to the Department of Violence Prevention, a group that reportedly aims to counter violence in the city by sending out "civilian violence interrupters and life coaches."

The individuals, whose ages range from 19 to 72, are being treated in local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries, the New York City Police Department said.



Around 10:38 p.m. Saturday, police responded to numerous 911 calls about a shooting, Assistant Chief Galen Frierson, of the NYPD's Patrol Borough Queens North said at a news conference Sunday morning.



"A preliminary report shows two males approached eastbound on the sidewalk on the north side of 37th Avenue from 97th Street while brandishing firearms," Frierson said. "The shooters advanced toward the crowd, firing numerous shots before jumping back on two scooters driven by two other males and fleeing the scene."



Police are now searching for the four individuals they suspect are behind the shooting. They are described as males who were wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts.



"There's just one common theme I want to get out there that's a recurring theme that keeps happening, and it has to stop throughout the city," James Essig, chief of detectives, said during the news conference. "That's gang members, that's guns – multiple guns on the scene – scooters being used, masks, and lastly unintended targets getting hit. This is unacceptable in our streets in New York City and it has to stop."



Police believe three of the 10 injured are Trinitarios gang members and the other seven victims were not intentional targets, he said.



"The uptick in gun violence has been a reality of daily life in the outer boroughs and for communities of color. Couple attacked with machete, rocks, and 5-foot wooden pole while retrieving stolen items from Seattle homeless camp

A couple with a young toddler was attacked and a man was killed during a chaotic incident at a Seattle-area homeless encampment last week.



The news comes alongside a report from Washington state radio host Jason Rantz that Seattle police are being prevented from monitoring homeless encampments in the city due to ongoing alternative policing initiatives.



According to KIRO-TV, law enforcement first responded to the scene on July 27 about 3 p.m. following reports of a hit-and-run near a large South Lake Union tent encampment.



After arriving at the scene and conducting an investigation, police discovered that the couple — who was with their 2-year-old son at the time — had driven to the camp to retrieve items recently stolen from their car, including shoes and a bluetooth speaker.



But when the couple arrived, a crowd descended on them with makeshift weapons such as a machete, rocks, and sticks. Surveillance footage even reportedly shows one man striking the driver in the back with a 5-foot-long wooden pole. Here's more from KIRO:



Police said the couple was immediately attacked by several people in the camp. The driver was seen on surveillance video being hit in the back with a 5-foot wooden pole, while another man attacked the driver and smashed the windows of the car with a machete, according to prosecutors. More people from the encampment joined the fight with rocks and sticks, and police said a woman from the camp began fighting with the female passenger of the car.



During the ambush, the driver desperately tried to get away and proceeded to speed through the crowd. In doing so, he allegedly struck and killed a 20-year-old man who had joined the group surrounding the vehicle.



KIRO reported that Seattle police arrested the two men who allegedly attacked the couple with a machete and a wooden pole. John Henry Rosser IV, 39, and Mario J. Miller, 53, lived at the encampment and reportedly have lengthy criminal rap sheets.



"Miller is a 12-time felon in Washington and California, and Rosser is a nine-time felon," the outlet noted.



Prosecutors are not expected to charge the couple for running over and killing the man. Rosser and Miller are to be arraigned on Aug. 18.
