Quote from: "jaysings"There is freaking cold in Vancouver too, but it hasn't started snowing yet. I can't imagine how severe weather u guys are encountering to. I just found out that there is minus 27 degrees in Saskatoon, and a frightening chill ran down my spine immediately that image came across in my mind. I don't know if I can bear this deadly coldness when I moved to Saskatoon.

You will be able to adjust Jaysings..

My family made the adjustment to Alberta's harsh winters when they immigrated from sub-tropical Taiwan.

Fashy, do you even plan on moving back to Taiwan? I would in a heart beat omfg.... the culture there is so amazing not to mention..... NO SNOW... EVER.

Why my dad decided to move here is beyond me.

My parents have said the same thing Jay. We came here in 1993 when China was a lot poorer than it is now. They have said they would not have made the same decision today. Both of them are successful in business here, but neither of them is working in the field they were trained in. It's a waste of talent.

Freezing rain in my neighbourhood! Even though there's no precipitation.

Even Vancouver pipes are wimpy in the cold. This one burst over twelve hours ago and water has been running down the street since. This is about the closest to seeing snow I ever get!

No offense Romero, but Van is the most overrated city on the planet. Victoria is kinda cool, but Van is an overpriced hole.

Romero

No offence taken.

But look at how beautiful it is! Like a winter wonderland!

Dude, you're paying heaps for that so-called beauty. It's your money though, I won't tell you how to spend it.

Quote from: "Romero"Probably on some new pipes.

I know how you love pipelines. ;)

Romero

I told you about pipelines! No new pipelines!

The protests have begun. Here's another picture I just took:

Asia was too hot all the time. The heat was ALL THE TIME. I like winter every once in a while.

I was watching the weather network and it was showing footage of Kentucky where Frosty lives. Snow, snow and more snow.

That chick looks very bangable. Why the hell they are putting fine chicks on TV? Miss the whole story.

Same effect when you would put some Hugh Jackman into the news... Chicks would run through the TV and fight over whom gets to talk to him.

Women are never angry to each other, they are defending their property... That property is a male.

Catfights.

I just hate every males. That is why the confrontion is always an awkward "hi".

The polar vortex may be coming back!  :?

QuoteThe polar vortex will get stronger and move farther south later in January, causing cold to intensify in the Midwest and East and drought to build in California and the West.

As the pattern responsible for rounds of nuisance snow and waves of cold air continues into next week, indications are that bitterly cold air will return later in the month courtesy of the polar vortex.

There is the chance the cold may rival that of early January in some areas.

A piece of the polar vortex will continue to hover around Hudson Bay and northern Quebec, Canada, into next week.

In this position, the vortex will continue to act like a giant pinwheel producing a series of weak storms with spotty snow and flurries, as well as brief waves of moderately cold air over southern Canada and the North Central and Eastern United States.

However, during the third and fourth weeks of January, some changes will take place. The high amplitude pattern is forecast to get more extreme. The polar vortex will move farther south and get stronger. The pattern will gradually change the current mixture of Pacific and Arctic air in the Canada Prairies and the North Central U.S. to all Arctic air. The air will get significantly colder over the Canada Prairies and the much of the eastern half of the nation as a result.

Storms from the Pacific Ocean will be blocked from rolling onshore along the West coast.

Warmth in much of the West now will continue, with virtually no chance of rain and probably no snow for the Sierra Nevada in California. Above-average warmth in Alaska will likely get more extreme.

Air stagnation and fog may become more of a problem in parts of the West. As the drought builds, the risk of wildfires will continue and may get worse.
